The set-up just seems to be not set-up well, I guess. It was quite clear that First Class was about the early years and the young Xavier and Magneto. Days of Future Past was about Wolverine going back in time to help X and Magneto. Now, this alien guy comes to Earth, for whatever reason. I don't know if it's just me, but the marketing for this new movie is pretty bad. It's very vague.

DOFP was about fixing the fucked up X-Men timeline since there's a lot of retcons between the movies.

The entire thing has become entirely formulaic (mainly the shit drizzling out of Disney's asshole) and could use a few years to redefine itself. I'd like to see a true Batman detective movie that's more like the old comics and for a few franchises to implement realism a bit more.
