Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this the is the greatest gangster movie of all time?
sure. solid 5/10
It's boring and a shot-for-shot remake, better than the original though.
By far the worst post-Goodfellas Scorsese gangster flick.
more like the defarted
I wouldn't call it the greatest. Jack Nicholson wasn't impressive enough in his role which hurt the film. It was great though, we even got an excellent performance out of Marky "Vietnam fucking shits" Mark
>I'm gonna go have a smoke right now. You want a smoke? You don't smoke, do ya, right? What are ya, one of those fitness freaks, huh? Go fuck yourself.
Not even Scorsese's best gangster movie. Casino and Goodfellas are better
Best gangster film is still OUaTiA
I used to like it but you watch it enough times you start to see what's wrong with it
5/10

>greatest gangster movie of all time?
don't make me laugh my ass off
Good flick but not even in the same tier as Goodfellas and Godfather part I and II. Please stop
>>67616072
Get the fuck out pleb
you mean this is the greatest gangster movie of all time
>>67616123
Whats wrong with it
>>67615891
Excellent Characterisation, yet with a disjointed and nihilistic plot. Goodfellas presents gang culture as a much wider metaphor, yet the Departed is great on specifics. The comedic elements work better in this one as well.
If it were structured in Five Acts, it would be better.
Read William Archer's book on Play-making.
>a literal x for every character that get murdered
>a literal rat for the informant
What a piece of shit.
>The Departed
>"Gangster"
lmao I bet you think the Sopranos is a great "mafia" tv show too
>>67616337
Its called symbolism you fuckin rat
>>67616376
What is subtlety
>>67616424
It was subtle, i didnt notice any x's the first time i watched the film except for the last guys death
>>67615891
>Hilarious scenes with enough drama for you to take it seriously
>top grade actors
>boston accents are gorgeous
>actual surprises, who the fuck expected Billy to die
Plus much more
It really is the best gangsta movie of all time
>>67616371...it's n-not?
It was boring as fuck. You would think with that concept the film would be suspenseful.
Didn't realize you weiner boyz didnt like this movie
Yeah good fellas is the best but this one was pretty damn good. Probably makes my top 15 list
But hey, you're the smart one

This is entry level shit.
>>67617398
The American scene is much better.
>>67617398
Whats the joke, the american one is realistic and dramatic at the same, chink one is gay as shit
Should've been obvious Leo was a cop.
>>67616635
If you watch the original your head might explode. How can two directors tell the same story and yet one fails completely
>>67615891
not even better than the Asian movie it remade
>>67617909
lol nah it's on another level, IA is trash for dog eating slant eyes
What was the deal with the dying gangster who knew Leo was a snitch? Did he ever explain why he didn't tell the gang he gave Leo the wrong address?
>>67615891
It's not even the greatest gangster movie from Scorsese.
Fuck off.
>>67618436
He was also a spy for the police i think
Great movie, this board likes crapping on it because. Much better than Infernal Affairs. Its Scorseses second best gangster flick behind Casino.
>>67616337
>a literal x for every character that get murdered
It's a reference to Scarface dimwit, the 1932 not the Pacino-version
