Video games, aside from some indie garbage, aren't very adaptable into a movie format. The stories are usually just excuses to go from one challenge to the next. At most, a video game could be a good basis for an action movie. That, or you could go full Angry Birds Movie and just add a silly plot while kinda incorporating gameplay elements to the actiony scenes.

Some videogames have plenty of source material but for whatever reason studios always feel the need to introduce shit that has nothing to do with the game. And like superhero movies, it's almost always an origin story because audiences can't comprehend an established character going on an adventure.
