Is the ending still effective?
>>
the landscape shots aren't but everything else is
>>

>>
>>67362383
i went to a screening last year and once it hit this part people started laughing
>>
>>67362383
Not enough Christ metaphors or tie-ins with future instalments in the franchise.

Not as effective as TDKR's alternate ending. It's like poetry.

It's a vessel for a hidden message by Kubrick that he faked the moon landings. Anyone that disagrees is either a troll or a moron.
>>
>>67362466
How does this movie even fit in with the 2001 cinematic universe?
>>
>>67362438
The monolith represents a BBC. That's all you need to know.

The main character is not an actor, but the concept of mankind.

2010 wouldn't be so bad if it's wasn't a 2001 sequel. The comparison is unbearable.
>>
>>67362678
Kubrick directed the SHIT out of his actors. their tiniest movements are often clearly planned and rehearsed because he wasn't aiming for naturalism and needed to get exactly the right kind of artifice. Pleb.
>>
>>67363106
This.

Btw.
How long until the reboot decade reboot 2001?
>>
>>67363314
Pretty sure that was Interstellar.
>>
>>67363620
>interstellar

it`s like beating a dead dog.

i liked tho
>>
so do the monoliths guide human technology or just motivate it?
I mean what was the relationship between the first monolith and the jaw club the primates "discover"?
>>
>>67363697
I liked it too, but I'm not a Nolan hater.
>>
>>67363846
Pretty sure your answer is as good as Kubrick's.
>>
>>67363846
they trigger leaps in evolution of the mind. the leap in the first part of the movie is the ability to comprehend technology and manipulate matter, the leap at the end is to do without it by becoming psychic super-organisms who don't even need physical bodies.
>>
>>67363846

Its just coincidence.
>>
If you mean the trippy LSD sequence, yes. The only thing that actually doesn't look good is the Starchild at the very end.

The problem is that most moviegoers today are attention-deficit and could never ever go through this movie.

>>67363620
wasn't it a reboot of Contact?
>>
>>67362438
For real though, aliens artificially evolving humans to the next stage of their development.
>>
>>67364747
Was there aliens in Interstellar? I don't even remember.
>>
>>67362460
fucking monkeys... in what country do you live?
>>
>>67364888
It's implied in somewhat hamfisted ways.
>>
oh my GOD IT'S FULL OF STA-
>>
>>67363620
Man,interstellar had so much potential.

It could have started a trend of cult and cerebral sci-fi cinema.

how can a director change the movie in a directors cut?and it could save interstellar`s ending?
>>
>>67362383
Yes.
>>
Yes, for the most part.

Things just get a bit jarring when it tries to pass tinted helicopter shots of some random canyons off to be something exotic and alien.
>>
Absolutely. I just watched it for the first time the other night and no bullshit it blew my mind and by the time it was over it made me cry a little.
I'm pretty dead inside and no movie has ever had the same effect on me.
>>67362429
This I can agree with. The whole warp sequence was incredible, but the landscape bits felt out of place and went on for a little too long.
>>
Yes, even when I first saw it at age 12 it had a lasting effect on me.
>>
The discovery represents a penis
The scientists represent sperm
The escape pod represents semen
Many scientists (sperm) die on the journey, only 1 survives
The monolith represents a vagina
The stargate sequence represents the fertilization process
The renaissance room represents the womb
The sperm develops into a child
The child exists the same way in entered, through the vagina (monolith)
Also the reason the room is decorated with Renaissance era art is because the word Renaissance means "rebirth" in Italian.
