Just admit it, /tv/

this is his best since Kill Bill

Absolutely

Meme flick at best.

WARM
>>

I think it's his third-best ever, the first two being RD and PF.

Inglourious Basterds was better.

I started to watch it yesterday and fell asleep after only 40 minutes. Does it get better?

Hateful 8 Is patricians choice.

True, its alot to chew on in the beginning, but it's really a great cinematic experience.

Then again, we watch it on my 55 inch tv with full surround sound and toke blunts.

Americans don't understand this movie because they have ADD and need their cape crusader PEW PEW BOOM every 3 minutes.

Us with taste? We enjoy the buildup, and savour the kill, rather than generic henchmen being blown up, that is more fitting for kids. (Or americans who are mentally undeveloped by default)

White dude with a black gf here. This is 100% true.
>>
Reservoir Dogs > Pulp Fiction > The Hateful Eight > Inglourious Basterds > Kill Bill: Vol. 2 > Kill Bill: Vol. 1 > Django Unchained > Death Proof > Jackie Brown

Everything was fine until Sam Jackson got shot in the dick by a character who wasn't in the movie before and died one scene later
>>
>>67239712
What do you mean Sam Jackson got shot in the dick? You do realize it's a movie, as in filmed with a camera and using props?

I think you meant to say Marquis got shot within the realm of the movie.
>>
Went to shit about a third of the way in, but I guess that's just Tarantino and his cuck fascination for black cocks.
>>
>>67239210
I'll admit it was better than I expected.
>>
I really enjoyed this up until the part where people were spewing blood comedy-anime style. I was suddenly reminded I was watching a movie directed by a man who didn't study film, but instead went to anime showings.
>>
>>67239210
If you say so, but the Tarantino bar isn't set that high.

>>
Inglourious Basterds is obviously better.

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are actually great movies.

Inglourious Basterds is good, Kill Bill is enjoyable. Django and Hateful Eight come after those being watchable.

Death Proof is complete shit.
>>
why did Senor Bob come across as a fake Mexican when the actor is a real mexican?

and why did minnie let him stay in her bar when she hates beaners?
>>
i would say its his most well crafted movie after PF
>>
>>67239337
True, but Hateful Eight was still one of his best.
>>
>>67243158
Minnie probably didn't hate Mesicans. Warren was just saying that to piss him off and rub it in his face that he got caught.
>>
Whether or not Tarantino's cynicism has finally achieved a transcendental edge is up for debate - I thought it was close, comparatively. But one thing is very clear, it's the most honest film he's made in years -- by doing away with the political lectures and simpleminded cursory ramblings that haunted the last two 'revenge porn at best' nadirs(DJANGO, BASTERDS). In an industry brimming with 'bro art mentality' in every shape and form imaginable, this movie seemed really refreshing and tight. Smart, well-written, funny and subversively nihilist(as opposed to snarky, veiled 'hipster nihilism'). Fuck all the middling 'too much cursing', 'violence for the sake of violence' type critiques, they don't know what they're talking about. Nihilism has never been so masterful and entertaining/playfully immersive. Ole Mary Todd is calling, so I guess it must be time for bed
>>
I watched it and thought the writing was pretty weak, in particular the part where Channing Tatum was revealed to be hiding under the floor the hole time.
Made me think about the "Golden Age of Detective fiction" in which a list of ten commandments were designed by Ronald Knox's to prevent lame bullshit stories from happening.
Maybe current movies should devise something similar, where one of the commandants can be something like "the previously unknown antagonist of the film cannot suddenly just fucking pop out of some secret place and kill the protagonist".

I thought that was fuckin' weak bullshit. That aside, i think Tarantino needs to get his head out of his own ass.
>>
The cinematography and soundwork was pretty good, especially at the beginning before they get to the cabin.

But the dialogue went so far up its ass at various points. Scenes and exchanges that go on way too long, beating a dead horse for humor. Classic Tarantino I suppose.
>>
>>67244922
>5. No Chinaman must figure in the story.

Wasting one of only 10 commandments on that seems really specific
>>
>>67239210
tarantulla's artistic career died with Sally Menke

I find post Menke taratulla unwatchable

But then again, his soul died when Mira Sorvino gave up on his childish ass
>>
>>67244920
Not sure if you're joking, but I agree 100%. I was extremely surprised watching this after he had just made Django. Really impressive set up and commentary on race relations.
>>
>>67239319
This.
Autists who actually get mad at the narration and length are probably capeshit autists.
>>
>>67245044
It's just a review from Letterboxd that I happened to agree with. I liked H8ful 8 quite a bit myself.,
>>
>>67244922
I don't really like plot twists that don't make sense in retrospect. I mean, the big twist is that a guy was hiding under the floorboards, okay?
>>
>>67244740
I like Pulp Fiction, but it was already wandering down the long-winded bs dialogue path that RD and Hateful seem to have avoided.
>>
>>67245217
The Fabiana scenes were completely worthless

The watch story drags that movie down so hard
>>
>>67245180
The twist was that all of the men in the cabin (aside from General Smithers) were in on trying to help Daisy escape.
>>
>>67245180
The big twist is that they were all in cahoots together and this whole thing was completely organized from the get-go. The floor man didn't get involved because at any point he'd have done anything, there would be 4 armed men who are not part of his gang and one of them is chained to his sister.

He only shot Sam Jackson as a last resort.
>>
>>67245291
I don't think the Hangman, the driver or Samuel L. Jackson, or Walton's character were
>>
>>67239337
Totally agree
actually I think TH8 was pretty silly
>>
>>67245217
>Implying the Mr Orange story wasn't a clear warning of future Quentin dialogue wankery
>>
>>67245335
I meant everyone in the cabin that is already there when the stagecoach gets there.
>>
>>67244994
apparently it was because having an "exotic" character became a cliché and i suppose the writer could exploit the ignorance of an audience by having such a characters resourcefulness be attributed to his or her mystical, albeit unexplained background.

>>67245180

Yeh as i said, i just thought it was weak. Introducing a previously unmentioned pivotal character three quarters of the way through the film, and introducing him in such a way was just... hell i know i keep saying it but it was weak writing. He may as well have just burst through the fucking wall or flown in through the window. To appear like that and then go "oh yes i am the womans BROTHER!" i mean fuck man.

Would've made more sense if it was that old guys cocksucking son.
>>
Imo kill bill 1 is his worst. Kill bill 2 is god tier
>>

>>
Kill Bill is GOAT and any deviation from this fact is reddit-tier.
>>
>>67239386
No. I tried to watch it twice now and have fallen asleep both times.

Seriously, what the fuck is it with /tv/ sucking tarantulas cock over this movie?!?

Boring characters, no real story for at least 1.5 hours. Theater-like storytelling and stage-building "YOU GOTTA NAIL DA DOOR"x3 etc. - what is good about this movie with actors that just seem to be phoning it in or must be bored out of their minds while doing this movie?!

Seriously you guys, explain why this movie is supposed to be good..??

I liked pretty much all of tarantulas movies, but this just takes the cake to a new level of shit town for me.

>>
>>67239210
This movie lacked a story and a plot.
It was a turd
>>
>>67245664
> with actors that just seem to be phoning it in or must be bored out of their minds
You can bash the directing/writing, but the acting in this movie was GOAT all around (especially the tramp).
>>
>>67245664
i think Tarantino just believes his own bullshit. The guy literally thinks he's some sort of visionary and if you disagree, his fans will say it's because you are unable to appreciate his vision.

I think the problem with a lot of these people, the so-called "artists" i mean, is when they start to think they are bigger than the art or the genre they are practicing in.

Why, to appreciate art is it so essential to even see the artist? I mean yeh you need to know who is doing what but outside of that awareness, i think the artist should just shut the fuck up and do what they claim to love doing. Tarantino is a celebrity and all his interviews are just him being loud, obnoxious and talking about movies like some fucking oracle. Guy needs to learn the definition of humility.
>>
>>67245979
Why was it GOAT?? I couldnt believe a single character nor their reactions to certain events at all;

if the henchman would have been christoph waltz, i might have not fallen asleep as the role seemed to be made for him, with the actual actor doing like a bad impression of what i (and proll him too..) thought that Waltz might have done - but to me none of the actors were believable or actually "dominating the screen" as i have come to expect from his movies.

It was just a "drab" story that really could have been a stage play and been a better experience at that, because then the expectations are different from what i came when i wanted to see this (in my opinion) turd...
>>
I think Tarantino did pretty good showing the woman getting smacked all over town. It was refreshing.
I've gotten immune to seeing guys getting beaten up in flicks this looked like it really hurt.
>>
Why is Tarantino obsessed with ugly chicks? Does he truly only cast based on feet:

Maria de Medeiros
Uma Thurman
Amanda Plummer
Grier and Fonda well after prime
Darryl Hannah
Lucy Liu
Big Nose Nip from KB1
Melanie Laurent
Diane Kruger (granted the above and her looked their best in Basterds)
Jennifer Jason Leigh (vomit personified; her and uma are literally men. must have great feet)
Only 3 of the Death Proof girls were acceptable but that movie was so shit it was distracting

Lit. the only attractive woman he has every cast was Kerry Washington and I bet Leo would only do the movie if he wasn't surrounded by uggos.
>>
I really disliked H8. Just a mediocre movie, awful pacing, also surprisingly bland music, just an all around forgettable experience.
>>
>>67245217
Tarantino movies usually center around a great concept or theme, like the suitcase, or le nazis or something like that, but H8 didnt have any of that, the plot was just 8 people shooting at eachother in a cabin. But aside from that, the movie is incredibly crafted and one of his best for sure
>>

3rd or 4th best for sure but I would argue iys even better paced than resevior dogs
>>
>>67249954
the same idea as the rest of his movies except all of the main characters are women
>>
This movie went on way too long. Terrible pacing.

It could have been cut down to 90 minutes and lost nothing with the edits.

The ambush on Minnie scene could have been cut entirely. We learn nothing from it other than that the General wasn't originally part of the gang's plan. By the time Samuel Jackson was shot all the bad guys revealed themselves and from that we know that anybody who was there beforehand was killed.
>>
Django is better then kill bill
>>
>>67239210
too lazy to watch
>>
>>67247882
PF and JB are better its about on par with RD tho

H8 is better paced RD is more iconic so its a tough call dat morricone score and cinemetograohy gives H8 the edge for me at least

1000% this. It's a return to form for Tarantino, and precisely why if it's not in your top 3 favorite films of hid (alongside Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction), then you need to fuck off.
>>
>>67250397
Don't make yourself out to seem like an expert of pacing if you don't understand the purpose of the entire Minnie sequence, faggot.
>>
>>67249954
The aesthetics are the only good aspect of the flick imo. It's filmed in an odd, comfy way. The argument is basically DUDE FEMALE EMPOWERMENT LMAO.

I like Quentin but his insistence on paying homage to 50's-80's cult movies is becoming tiresome. He's a great screenwriter, no doubt about that, but I wish he would challenge himself and stop being such a hack. For instance...
>Reservoir Dogs feels like The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three (1974)
>Pulp Fiction feels like Band of Outsiders (1964)
>Jackie Brown feels like The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)
>Kill Bill feels like Lady Snowblood (1973)
>Inglourious Basterds feels like The Dirty Dozen (1967)
>Death Proof feels like Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965)
>Django Unchained feels like Roots (1977)
>Hateful Eight feels like The Thing (1982)
>>
>>67252556
You're reaching in at least 6 of these
>>
>>67252556

I definitely got a The Thing vibe out of Hateful Eight. The bit where they make a trail in the snow to the outhouse especially. Kurt Russel basically played his character from The Thing as well.
>>
>>67249954
it's not that bad

I hated it first time because LOL GIRL POWER!
but after watching it a second time I liked it better

it's pretty comfy

I feel that he already achieved what he wanted with this movie during the basement bar scene in Inglorious Basterds.
Altough it's nicely shot and good music, but the script felt weak. Overhyped because it's Tarantino. Wouldn't get much praise otherwise.
