Whether or not Tarantino's cynicism has finally achieved a transcendental edge is up for debate - I thought it was close, comparatively. But one thing is very clear, it's the most honest film he's made in years -- by doing away with the political lectures and simpleminded cursory ramblings that haunted the last two 'revenge porn at best' nadirs(DJANGO, BASTERDS). In an industry brimming with 'bro art mentality' in every shape and form imaginable, this movie seemed really refreshing and tight. Smart, well-written, funny and subversively nihilist(as opposed to snarky, veiled 'hipster nihilism'). Fuck all the middling 'too much cursing', 'violence for the sake of violence' type critiques, they don't know what they're talking about. Nihilism has never been so masterful and entertaining/playfully immersive. Ole Mary Todd is calling, so I guess it must be time for bed
I watched it and thought the writing was pretty weak, in particular the part where Channing Tatum was revealed to be hiding under the floor the hole time.
Made me think about the "Golden Age of Detective fiction" in which a list of ten commandments were designed by Ronald Knox's to prevent lame bullshit stories from happening.
Maybe current movies should devise something similar, where one of the commandants can be something like "the previously unknown antagonist of the film cannot suddenly just fucking pop out of some secret place and kill the protagonist".
I thought that was fuckin' weak bullshit. That aside, i think Tarantino needs to get his head out of his own ass.
The cinematography and soundwork was pretty good, especially at the beginning before they get to the cabin.
But the dialogue went so far up its ass at various points. Scenes and exchanges that go on way too long, beating a dead horse for humor. Classic Tarantino I suppose.

It could have been cut down to 90 minutes and lost nothing with the edits.
The ambush on Minnie scene could have been cut entirely. We learn nothing from it other than that the General wasn't originally part of the gang's plan. By the time Samuel Jackson was shot all the bad guys revealed themselves and from that we know that anybody who was there beforehand was killed.
