MPC-HC but there's literally no difference, and if there is someone please tell me.
>>
mpc, I like the easily customizable shortcuts.
>>
mpc because I get half the glitches and double the shortcuts.
>>
VLC is the patricians choice
>>
>>67234383
MPCHC you can customise your subtitles. I like to make them yellow, I find it easier to read, especially when watching animu.
>>
>>67234328
If you use VLC you most likely are a poorfag on a laptop. It is so very limited in ita settings.

mpc madvr lav master race
5.1 audio setup w/ 65" LG Oled.
>>
>>67234328

bsplayer, because I don't fucking care. Beside, it download subtitles automatically
>>
Windows Media Player
>>
Real player is tops.
>>
I use popcorn time so that. Besides wmc classic and vlm player sometimes

This plex or xmbc are the only patrician choices

Have fun moving files back and forth like a pleb
>>
>>67234328
mpc. simple and effective
>>
>>67234328
mpc hc + madvr +reclock
anything else and you are a fucking pleb.
>>
bomi
>>
>>67234474
mpc does too
>>
mpv

i like to waste time fucking around in console instead of living my life
>>
>>67234689
Plex and Kodinare both terrible used them for a week recently.

Whyd you subject yourself to such torture is beyond me

plus the internal player was windows media player tier joke
>>
>>67234772
mpc-hc doesn't do AB repeat

that's a deal-breaker for me
>>
Fucking plebs. Browse /tech/ more.

Oh and the only correct answer is mpv.
>>
>>67234328
Can't we all just get along and remember that there are normies out there who actually use Quicktime to watch everything.
>>
>>67234474
this
>>
>>67234789

Plex literally changed my life

I built a custom made NAS running couch potato, filebot, and plex

I watch movies at work

I never have to look for downloads (couch potato does that for you)

Filebot automatically downloads the relevant subtitles

Vlc is a video LAN client that doesn't even do what it's intended or named

Sorry you can't figure out computers
>>
>>67234865
I have a friend that was still using divx to watch movies
>>
>use kodi aka new xbmc after not using xbmc for a long time.

lel
>>
>>67234992

Plex is definitely the better xbmc fork
>>
Splash player is pretty good
>>
>>67234746
What does reclock do?
>>
mpv
>>
>>67235333

The purpose of ReClock is to definitely get rid of jerky playback of AVI and MPEG material on a PC (or a HTPC driving a TV, a flat panel, or a video-projector). It's a DirectShow filter which is loaded in place of the default directsound audio renderer.
It provides a new reference clock that is locked to the video card hardware clock, in order to ensure that frames are played at the exact speed of what is expected by the video card vertical sync.
>>
>>67234850
how's it better than mpc?
>>
>>67234328

Why is it that I can't choose MPC HC as my default media player? I have installed it, but Windows doesn't even list MPC as an option for the default media player. I always have to start MPC and then select the file I want to watch.
>>
>>67234925
lol sorry you think couch potato is good quality

and I use MPC w/ madvr and lavsplitters

seems like you nig was too fucking stupid to get into privae trackers and setup rss download
>>
>>67234328

MPC-HC because it has a based icon, unlike that dumb orange cone.
>>
>>67235407
it's not. doesn't even have a graphical interface.
>>
>>67234328

mpv

or mpv derived media players like baka-mplayer
>>
>>67235375
Well that is a very thorough answer. Thanks. I had thought it had something to do with playing PAL format files at 24fps. Does it to that, too?

>>

no the media player does that

I haven't updated vlc in 4years, what am i missing?

in mpc, view/options/formats?
>>
>>67235505

Nothing
>>
I prefer MPC. VLC feels clunky.

VLC isn't even built for regular video playback you idiots, it even says it in it's name.

i fell for that bait once. those are piece of shit, with horrible UI.
I prefer Universal Media Server or KooRaRoo to do DLNA. Why don't you?
>>
>>67234328
vlc, I mean the video quality is simply unbeatable
>>
>>67234383

MPC-HC alone is basically like VLC. There are a few differences but really the proper advantage of MPC-HC is that you can use things like madVR that reduces banding issues and produces far better upscaling results.

>Plex
so how does shit work?
as i saw:
>you REGISTER with YOUR PERSONAL DATA email etc on their server
>you share your illegally downloaded videos thorough their servers
>to watch it on your mobile, etc, DOWNLOADING AGAIN through INTERNET

so you're like triple your dataflow, and by your own decision report your illegal activity to a company.

WTF are you insane?
>>
Based MPC-HC of course
>>
>>67235812
Is this bait? You watch it in streaming from the pc where the plex server is.,,
>>
MPC-HC
>>
>not owning a Roku and using a flash drive to watch on your flat screen TV
>>
>>67235909
yes, and if they are asked by the cops or any like that because there is possible illegal activity they probably should give out your IPs and registered data and whatever , like every company
>>
MPC-BE of course, try it if you use MPC-HC.

>>
>>67234383
I'm told that it has better upscaling, like if you're watching a 480p movie on your 1080p monitor, and I've seen screenshots online trying to prove that. What I CAN say is that when I watch videos side by side in both players at the same time, I couldn't pick an actual quality difference if I was getting paid to find one...

I still use MPC though, as I've grown quite fond of the controls, and it seems to handle my chinese cartoon subtitles better. Sometimes the subs don't even show up on VLC.
>>
Netflix, via chrome
>>
>>67234328
mpv or smp.
>>
>>67236160
They have no idea whether you downloaded a file illegally or just ripped a bought bluray. It just scans your library for xml data
>>
>>67234328
once you learn how to play videos in the .cmd you don't really use anything else
>>
>>67234328
MPC-HC + LAV Filters + ffdshow (for AviSynth) + MadVR + Reclock + XySubFilter, pleb.
>>
>>67234328
MPCHC+MadVr
>>
VLC for anime because it runs more shit and actually detects subtitles, unlike Gom player, which is what I use for everything else just because it's got a nice interface and starts up quickly.

Here's the deal

Most of these media streaming platforms are fully customizable - you can run a plexbmc back end and connect using kodi's skinable front end interface - if you want to tinker

You can also run straight kodi and do some tinkering there

Plex just runs - it downloads all the metadata, its pretty damn secure, and most importantly, FREE access to your files remotely - the only time you pay is for access over LTE (5 bucks) or if you want to download your files locally , which requires a plex pass (expensive one time deal)

I have more content than Netflix
