What does /tv/ think about him?
I can't answer, /tv/ is not dogma compliant.
talentless nazi cunt
Is dogville good?

attention-seeking edgelord

He's an interesting director who makes interesting movies, but he's not as patrician as he and most people think he is, he falls a bit on the pretentious level.
>>67212902
One of the best films from 00's desu
>>67212737
His movies makes mehopeful
>>67212799
so you want to discuss the true essence of danish film?
and its spelled 'dogme' :^)
>>67212737
>>67212737
The idiots is good. The other Dogma 95 one he did is ok. The rest of his films that I have seen have been completely mediocre. His success causes me pain because it makes me realize how stupid everyone is compared to me.
>>67212737
Breaking the waves, dogville, and dance in the dark are great. everything else is shit.
>>67215326
>>67215326
>how stupid everyone is compared to me
>>67215531
>dance in the dark
no. Bjork is great. The film is pretty bad.

>Well, yes I am a nazi. I just think the jewish pest has to be eliminated, you know?
What a moron
Pretentious foreigner who uses "art" as a smokescreen to look at actors/actresses naked & engage in other degenerate behavior. Typical european. Pretty cool guy desu
>>67215731
Fuck you i like Bjork
>>67215826
>respects Björk
>doesn't spell her name with an 'ö'
I should bend you over your water damaged pallet bedframe and cram my cock into your hastily wiped brown eye

His best work is the series 'Riget'.
I enjoy Nymphomaniac, Antichrist and Dancer, Breaking the Waves is carried by its performances and Melancholia is one of my favourite films in recent memory.
I don't think he's a genius, he's just a good director with ideas above his station.
>>67216302
BtW carried by its performances, but dancer is not. explain yourself
>>67216302
>Melancholia is one of my favourite films in recent memory.
my god I hope I never meet you. That's the second worst film ive seen after Fury Road.
>>67216302
>good director with ideas above his station.
A part from Idiots, he has never had an interesting or good idea.
>>67216412
>dae FR was bad
could you try harder
>>67216412
>my god I hope I never meet you.
not him, but it was one of my favorite films of 2011.
>>67216348
I think Dancer did a lot of things right. It absolutely ruined me.
BtW I probably shouldn't comment on because I was a bit younger when I saw it (17 I think).
>>67216412
That's a bold claim.
He has had plenty of good ideas. I just don't think they're quite on the level he thinks they are.
>>67212902
It is, but I preferred the sequel, Mandelbaum.
good but edgy for the sake of being edgy
I really enjoy his movies and tried to spark some discussion back in the Antichrist thread but it died.
The 'depression trilogy' is pretty good but Nymphomaniac wasn't my thing, maybe I need to give it a rewatch.
Haven't seen most of his stuff but out of the things I've seen, Dogville is my personal favorite. I got completely immersed in that movie and pictured an entire background to go along with everything. How's the sequel? Anyone else have a personal favorite flick of his?
>>67216805
>tried to spark some discussion back in the Antichrist thread but it died.
welcome to present-day /tv/
why is von trier pretentious?
Zentropa is underrated.
>>67216823
it waa always shit outside early lbg thrrads when ptabro, marcissus,.cinebro, tsar etc.posted
>>67212737
He did a really dark version of Euripides' Medea, it's pretty neat
When he tries to "shock," his films feel inauthentic, but otherwise, he typically gets great performances from his actors and writes some surprisingly funny little jokes into his scripts too. It's especially impressive since English isn't his first language.
