IMDB hate thread, vent your frustrations here.

Eyes Wide Shut 7.3
Mad Max Fury Road 8.2

Possession 7.4
The Dark Knight Rises 8.5

Lost in Translation 7.8
Deadpool 8.4

Children of Men 7.9
Inside Out 8.3

Taxi Driver 8.3
Zootopia 8.4
>>
>Deadpool 8.4

Holy fuck is this real life?
>>
I read an article on AVClub about how most IMDB voters are men in their twenties. That's why the first 20 entries on the top 250 have male-only protagonists.
>>
I mostly use the imdb score as a rough "is that shit even watchable" scale

7.x is mostly great
8.x is either great are pretentious bullshit
6.x is ok, the stuff you watch when nothing else is on, like some action flicks or something
5.x is already pressing it, but they are some rather good movies there
everything below 5 is garbage

just don't take it too seriously, like everything on the internet
>>
>>67179933
>Children of Men 7.9

How does this deserve anything more than a 5?

It's trash
>>
All those ratings you feel angry about will decrease with time
>>
>>67180075
You literally had zero ability to decipher film, like IMDB, go back to r e dd it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqlqVcCPRd0

Plus you have really shit taste the entire film is beautifully well-done
>>
>>67179933
>Lost in Translation 7.8

Yeah that's too high for this piece of trash.

there should be some sort of ratio for hipster fuck votes, just like old people should only have a quarter of a vote in elections
or none at all

This deserves way more than a 6.4

Maybe not WAY more, but it isn't bad at all.
>>
>>67180069
You're way too forgiving, the only legitimately good movie below 7 I've seen is Last Action Hero, literally every other movie below 7 has been complete trash.

>>67180802

eXistenZ? Single White Female? Scanners? Last Exit to Brooklyn?

>The Babadook
>Fearless Hyena

>Rocky III

the list goes on familia
>>
>>67181890
Enemy I can give you, Signs could be a little bit higher, like 6.9 but not 7
for the rest - no
>>
>>67181957
The village is better than a 6.5 imo
>>
>>67180802
IMDB a shit! That's all there is to it.
>>
>Sunshine 7.3
Better than expected. I just wanted to see how a random movie I like that definitely has faults and didn't really become popular with normies would score. Neat.
>>
Of course recent movies will get the higher rating, they are more in the public eye and there's more hype for them and they want to be part of a fandom.

People will think Deadpool is pure Kino now but realize it's a 6/10 later in life and then the rating will go down.
>>
our question is:
>why are these pleb movies rated so high, while these patriciandom movies are so low?
well "normal" people do not have a more critical eye when reviewing something than "seasoned" people.

obvious the people who will see mad max will go "I LIKE IT CARS SHOOT BOOM" and give it a 10, while people who watched eyes wide shut obviously are a bit more critical (i assume people who watch brickshit are a little bit smarter than the guys who watch capeshit, i mean, man) and will count both the defects and pros and give it an 8.
also, >>67183245
>>
>>67183314
Fury Road is actually better than Eyes Wide Shut tho
>>
>>67183367
>I LIKE IT ILLUMINATI CULTS GO ORGY
>>
>>67183314
That and there's upvote and downvote wars to dethrone certain movies from the top list.

It should be like this.
>9-10
Defining movies for a generation, influential, to be taught in film schools.
>8-9
Very good movies with excellent ideas, somewhat part of the status quo but well regarded.
>7-8
We are getting more towards simplified entertainment, but can still have a lot of meaning and thought into them, I would put top tier genre films in here too like Terminator, Alien and Dark Knight.
>5-6
This should be for 'fun' movies, things like Marvel movies, action movies, comedies, kids movies.
>4-5
Forgettable but still watchable
>2-4
Mostly panned movies but still have some redeeming qualities.
>1-2
Duds, bad movies, no questions asked.
>>
>>67180848
I liked it.
>>
>>67183533
Aside from Deadpool being rated high, I agree.
>>
>>67180069
What about all the good films plebs rate as a 4 or under?
>>
>>67183367
>i like meme movies
>bam bam car shoot boom practical effects wow oscar
get out of here you fag
>>
>8 Heads in a Duffel Bag
>5.3

>Dragnet
>5.9

>Who's Harry Crumb?
>5.8

IMDB wouldn't know comedy if it walked in and shit down their throat.
>>
>>67179933
the only mistakes i see there there are TDKR, Deadpool and Zootopia. Are you autistic?
>>
>>67185474

I've found that some of my favorite movies will wind up around a 5.5/6 rating. Doesn't make much sense.
