The cast is great. The acting is great. The music is great. The cinematography is great. The ass is great. However the plot goes nowhere, it drags on and there is no payoff your patience.
But hey, /tv/ has a hard on for it because the "normies" hated it. If you dislike it you wanted jump scares, or should watch more capeshit.
I wanted a creepy, eerie modern day Shining with Witches. I got a boring ass movie.

It just seems realistic. Considering he's a huge fucking annoyance. Would make sense and would be very ironic that he has a chode.
I loved it. I have a huge hard on for folk-horror anyway, but this was brilliant. No jump scares, constantly building sense of tension and dread, just enough was explained and to keep it mysterious without alienating you.
Also thedeaths and violence were all done well, very disturbing without being gratuitious.
I was surprised the wholeincestuous sexual tensionthing went nowhere but theasswas literally 10/10

The problem with it is, as they say in the outro credits text, the story is cobbled together from various folk tales from that era. They found tons of witchy stories and facts and just threw them together as an excuse to film some really nice shots and sequences.
Much like It Follows did by having a decent starting idea and just going 'ah fuck it we'll make the rest up'.
They know the journos and hipsters will make up the excuses for them; horror doesnt have to be scary, horror community is bad, Witch is art you just dont get it. Google it now, its already happening.
Pretentious people lap this shit up because it gives them a back door into a genre that allows them to feel intelligent and smug, its gamergate for film journos.
I loved The VVitch, looked great, had some scary scenes, but at the end of the day the story was weak as vegetarian piss.
I don't even want to see the film, I just want to see the ass
