What went wrong? Is it because Christoph Waltz is a shit villain?
>>67046140
it's because the director and star were phoning it in.
>>67046140
>it's another white power fantasy movie
it's getting stale
>>67046170
That and they forgot that Bond movies are supposed to be fun.
Show me any scene better than the tank scene in Goldeneye from any Bond film. It's simultaneously spectacle, humorous and fun.
Spectre is none of that. It's serious, boring and flat.
>>67046140
>Is it because Christoph Waltz is a shit villain?
Yes. No matter how weak QoS' story is about fucking water right and country destabilization Dominic fucking Greene says "I've had enough of this fucking guy fucking up my plans" and essentially goes apeshit and starts beating on Bond with a metal girder and then a fucking axe! You don't get any sense of hatred from blofeld, he's just this aloof faggot who enjoys smelling his own farts.
bond is only as good as his villains and they didn't make a good one, fucking Silva didn't even have beef with Bond but fuck if he didn't hate the shit out of M.
>>67046140
Dage Bautista was the real villain and he was awesome
better question, what went right? i feel like it's still a 4 or a 5/10 movie (flick), but i seriously can't name anything that went right or that i even remotely enjoyed
it was all mediocre at best and absolutely terrible at worstfor real, the meme reddit-tier faked opening tracking shot might have been the high point of the movie. think about that for a minute
I just fucking rented it. Paid actual money for it. I should have listened. Fuck was it so stupefyingly bad. The antagonist was handled so so poorly, and breezily, just like Bond's connection to him. It was just all so matter of fact. Felt absolutely devoid of any energy or care. All the peices were there too, it could have been great.
>>67046487
>I just fucking rented it. Paid actual money for it.
>renting
Wh-what?
>>67046140
It expected me to remember the plot of the first three films. The whole time I was trying to remember if I should have known this or that character or the movie was introducing them for the first time. Either way I didn't give a shit.
And I still don't know how Bond managed to walk right into the villain's lair without getting killed or why he even thought that was a good course of action.
Christoph Waltz's villain was very poorly written.
>>67046140
I haven't seen it yet. Is it actually a Bond film or is it Skyfall 2?
>>67046525
Dude. I know.
>>67046663
Yep, almost an afterthought. He was poorly directed or edited too, the camera never lingering or even relaxing on him, quick, inconsequential shots.
>>67046677
It's a "Bond film." In that it's just a rote rehash of uninspired elements of past Bond films. You've seen it all done better before. Like if they sat some random schlub down who's seen em all before and said, write me a Bond flick.
>>67046170
At first I thought the direction was pretty good, but as the film wore on it became apparent he was really phoning it in. Craig too seems over it.
>>67046307
>craig
>bond
>>67046677
Its better than Skyfall
Friendly reminder
QoS > CR > Spectre > Skyfall
I watched it yesterday. How did they managed to make Bond so dull? There's one tense chase scene. No tense fights. Just some really dull shit.
I don't have problems with plot. Terrorizing world's nations so they pile their intelligence data into you is a good scheme. Sure, there's American TV show about it right now, but it's a hot topic, so it's OK. Actors are good, but it's just so damn dull.
Am I the only one who kind of enjoyed it? Also
>that first tracking shot
>>67047265
>Its better than Skyfall
Literally how Bondtrarian?
>>67046431
I think this crime Spectre meeting scene was cool. Like it wasn't exciting or anything, but it was geniunely creepy shit like all those crooks just sitting there talking about how to fuck with people.
>>67047418
In theory, and only for a moment. It could have been used to much better effect. Instead of, oh shit this is pretty cool "I KNOW YOURE RIGHT THERE JAMES" and its over
From the moment they had the exposition dump on the boat you should have known it was going to be a bad time.
IT WUZ ME JAMES
DUN
DUN
DUNNNNNNNNN

>You don't get any sense of hatred from blofeld, he's just this aloof faggot who enjoys smelling his own farts.
blofeld was never the guy to get mad at bond, it always went something like this:
>UGH, you're so annoying mr bond. it was amusing at first, but now you really have to die
and then bond gets put into another elaborate contraption that's supposed to kill him, but he easily escapes out off.
>>67046140
The writing was utter shit. The villain had poorly developed motivation and was way worse than the Blofeld of the books - a villain who's just going about his criminal business, and has to deal with Bond when he gets in the way, rather than this stupid vendetta bullshit.
>>67047265
Swap QoS and CR around and then it's correct.
>>67050356
This. They just fucked up the whole character.
Also, neither Spectre nor Blofeld felt threatening at any point. They seemed more like some social club for roch people.
And why do they keep repeating the Bond goes rogue plot in literally every movie?
>>67046307
Piss off, Harry.
>>67046140
They succeeded in forcing the whole series back into that campy, guffaw-inducing, neckbeard faggotry, and forgot no one wants that cornball version of Bond anymore.
Christopher Waltz is suffering from the Sam Jackson disease. That is, he played a character so good that now he has to parody it in every other movie, because that's what hollywood wants.
>>67046140
Fuck off Reddit. Patrician Craig ranking:
Skyfall>Spectre>Casino Royale>Quantum of Solace
How come Dr Evi... Blofeld is back? I thought he was dropped down a chimney or something? Is this a new character? Alternative timeline thing? Whuh?
>>67046140
Millennial don't know what makes a good Bond film. They're upset it wasn't enough like their super fav Borne movies so they shunned the best Bond film since Casino Royale.
>>67051634
>Patrician Craig ranking
Nice try.
I didn't really care for Skyfall and hoped it would get better, but nope, worse in every way imaginable.
>>67046140
>it was me james
aw son of a bitch
Why did they make Blofeld's villainous reveal that he'd written some unknown book that'd never been even remotely mentioned before? I don't care about Oliver Payne. It came across as quite abrupt and jarred me out of the scene, removing me from the chilling impact it was originally supposed to have.:^)
Honestly though, Spectre was so lacklustre I just didn't care what happened. Also the girl who hung around Bond the whole time had such a constant, miserable look to her that it made her really unlikeable.
>>67053973
only good thing about the movie was imagining how great it would feel to fuck her in the ass
>Wh..One last thing, James. F-find my daughter, and then have sex with her.
Really? Jesus Christ.
It wasn't that bad. I watched Goldeneye after I watched this just to see if the old Bonds held up and that film is much worse.
>>67046140
Nah, not really. It wasn't that Waltz makes a bad villain as much as the writing for his character was bad.
They just tried to include too many old Bond tropes into one movie and it came off as unoriginal and forced.
Plus it just seemed like non of the actors gave a shit about being there, waltz included.
What went wrong was the decision to make the movie at all. They should have been focusing on the next segment
