We're hot, angry and there's 12 of us. what does /b/ think of this classic?
>>
>/b/
Are we /b/ now?

I genuinely like it. It is very suspenseful, even though it constantly breaks the "show, don't tell rule". I also like that they never reveal whether or not they made the "right" decision. My only criticism is that every single one of the characters seems more like a particular stereotype. But then again, in the end they all prove to be more ambivalent than they seem. Also, it's visually often simplistc and yet effective.

by /b/ i meant /tv/, but whats the difference really...
>>
>>67013707
Definitely agree. The way its edited is truly brilliant in its simplicity. The gradual closeups between dialogue scenes is a good example.
>>
>>67013486
The rape scene was a little over the top. A couple of people walked out of the theater at that point. Apart from that it's not worth the time.

must have been the directors cut. Keep trying though, sure you'll get a laugh from that sometime.
>>
Oh, look. A bunch of old cis white men decide the fate of a poor minority youth. Why are there no women, transfolk or ethnic minorities on the jury? It's racist
>>
I just watched it. pretty damn great I should say, but who was the killer?

/tv/ btfo yet again.

I know I was with him up until I got to 9 then I was sad.
>>
>>67013486

It's very rewatchable.

The no-nonsense dialogue keeps things interesting throughout. Also you slowly begin to pick up the subtle details in the performances.

Whenever I'm in the mood for a movie but can't decide what to pick, I just watch 12 Angry Men or a Carpenter flick (The Thing or They Live).
>>
>>67013486
Not enough PoC, LBGT or minority representation. Clearly pushing the patriarchy and CIS white males.
>>
>>67014210
>>67015016
No, really it's my favorite movie of all time.
>>
>>67013486
I watched this just before I did a three month stint of jury service. Was kind of disappointed nobody called me Mr. Foreman when I was chosen to be it.

Bretty gud movie tho.
>>
>>67015742
>>67015763
He switched sides just because 8 had no other support. That's not much of a reason. Not him, by the way.
>>
>>67015919
Did you get a murder case or something boring?
>>
>>67015926
yea he was a bit of a "contrarian for the sake of being contrarion" in that moment.

still was the right thing to do though, takes balls
>>
>>67015566
who the fuck even was juror 1? Swear he was just a mediator
>>
>>67015926
Yea I can see your point but I do have a soft spot for old people.
>>
>>67015959
A group of Pakistanis were charged with mortgage fraud of commercial properties, and I believe for trying to influence a witness who was testifying against them.

Most of it was incredibly boring, but parts of it were interesting, like when both the prosecution and defence had handwriting analysts on the stand trying to convince us who wrote a particular set of signatures.
>>
>>67015995
he was the head juror/foreman. basically given the task of moderating discussion along with being part of the deliberations
>>
>>67015566
3 is GOAT. You have shit taste.
>>
>>67016157
>shitty father

why is real life so boring

Nah son.
>>
>>67016157
Juror 3 wouldn't have made him past the jury selection process. As soon as they asked him if he had any kids he'd start sweating and shit his pants

Love this man. He portrayed the transition on his stance beautifully.

The whole reason for his change of heart is fucking stupid though. The bitch could've put on her glasses before seeing the murder, entirely plausible that they sent the filthy murderer free
>>
>>67016681
>entirely plausible
>what is reasonable doubt
nigga u dumb
>>
>>67013486
they should have fried that little turd
>>
is there a porn parody of this movie yet?
>>
>>67016739
The whole concept of reasonable doubt is fucking dumb in the context of the film. The reasonable doubt was entirely based on guesses and hunches
>>
>>67016774
Jury 10 please go.

12 horny men
is it gay porn or gangbang
>>

I'd rather want an anime remake. '12 Tsundere Waifus'

12 Angry Men... and Sasha Grey.
>>

Kill yourself.
>>
>>67016817
Is it more reasonable to say a woman who "after tossing and turning rolled over to see the son kill the dad" put her glasses on or not? And that was almost verbatim what the lady said in her testimony
>>
>>67013486
The 1997 version is much better.

The racist is actually a Muslim black man.
>>
>>67013707

I think that's the point, the stereotypes bit.

>>67016681
>The bitch could've put on her glasses before seeing the murder, entirely plausible that they sent the filthy murderer free

They go over this in the film anon. Nobody sleeps with their glasses on, and she just happened to turn her head with the L roaring past and claims to have seen the murder.

>>67016817

Did we even watch the same film? They recreate entire scenarios n' shit which gives everyone room for reasonable doubt.
>>
>>67017019
Im on your side, i just find it unrealistic that all of them were swayed on those scenarios
>>
>>67016817
This. Judges sometimes tell jurors that the movie isn't a good instructor in how deliberations should go.
>>
>>67017270
Well Yankees fan only switched to get it over with.
>>
>>67013486

If you ever get the chance, attend the play.
>>
>>67017371
does the play differ from the film in any way? I would imagine it being way more in depth
>>
>>67017728

Different interpretations. Find a theatre near you that's doing a production on it, read up their brochure or whatever to see what the director's interpretation is going for. Plus going to the theatre is just nothing like the cinema, the shit is happening right in your face it's fucking grand man.
>>
>>67017728
the biggest difference is that, since it's on a stage, you see the entire room at any given moment. Makes you feel like you're the 13th man at the table.
