Remember when it was up to a year after a cinema release before the vhs release? When if you didn't go to see it, or had a friend with a 10th generation pirate copy of it you wouldn't be able to watch it until they had run off enough copies to release it on video. People born in the late 90s and on don't know the struggle we had.

>the struggle we had.

But it wasn't a struggle in the slightest. It was just how things were & accepted as such.
>>
>>66891302
> 1 year to be available to rent/buy
>3 years usually before it aired on commercial tv

It helped that movies stayed in the cinemas a fuck ton longer! You had months to catch them
>>
>>66891393
If it was an 18 though you had to wait to see it on video, cinemas used to be pretty strict on that. In the uk anyway.

>go on date with qt 15 year old
>last session for the movie
>buy the tickets
>she gets asked for ID
>gets asked for ID
>says go in without me I'll hang out here
>a level of autism I didn't know I had activates
>I go in
>watch the whole move
>come out after it ends
>SHE apologizes to ME
>>
>>66891642
I genuinely had a hearty laugh at this, then I felt bad when I remembered I've never been on a date.
>>
>>66891692
I felt like the biggest dick ever

Basically had to dump her when I was 18 and started going out

>Remember when it was up to a year after a cinema release before the vhs release?

Yup, I even remember some movies simply not being released at all for years, E.T. and Star wars were amongst those.
>>
>>66891642

>my 17 year old buddy invited me to a R rated flick.
>told him i didn't want to go because they ID.
>insists that they won't
>buy tickets
>walk up to ticket taker
>he's literally retarded
>asks for ID
>tell him I forgot it
>say, "don't i look 18? (looked like i was about ten)
>he apologized and let me in
>felt bad tricking a retard
>>
>>66891735
It was also the era of the "video nasties" some movies didn't get released at all in vhs.
>>
I'm old and not american, we didn't have a VCR until many years later and I remember when some movies were aired live on TV it was some kind of event amongst us kids, I still remember how excited we all were at school when that evening on TV they will finally show Raiders of Lost Ark for the first time after many years, we didn't talk about anything else during the morning, a couple of kids which tv didn't catch correctly the channel signal were hosted later by other kids.
>>
Let's not forget when it finally did come out it was in shitty 4:3 pan and scan full-screen bullshit.
>>
>>66891833
I doubt there will ever be a time again like this where people got so shit the bed excited about a film on TV.
>>
>>66891853
Yeah, but it didn't matter then. Nobody could afford $25,000 big flat screen plasma TVs. Sony Trinitron tube TVs was the height of it.

>10th generation pirate copy

Not being able to have something the way I want it immediately is a struggle. Don't you know we wuz kings and shyt?
>>
>>66891957
This. If you didn't have a giant TV letterboxed tapes were near unwatchable.
>>
I just watched Batman and Robin every day when I was 8 because that was the original VHS tape I had.
I still think it's a good movie. Better than most capeshit made these days desu.
>>
>>66891777
Bullshit. That ticket-taker was a peer.
>>
>>66891642
I read you saying you had a beard a whole different way than you intended and after reading that all I could think was "What the fuck does that have to do with being gay?"
>>

Kek. Autism at its finest, with the terminator soundtrack.

>Some slut from MTV is trying to contact him in the comments for Rob Dyrdek's Tosh.0 ripoff (that was already a ripoff itself) so that video will be on the show six years after that video was being posted on 4chan originally

It's fucked up that people are making millions off the dank memes we shitposted to death a long ass time ago. I bet they don't show the video where he says nigger and then immediately regrets it.

People think Marko is some kind of meme and his haircut is fake but what they fail to realize is that in Finland he's a total fucking normie. He's an average Finnish man.
>>
>>66892345
How can that look be normal in anyones eyes?
>>
>>66892821

Forget about it, Jake. It's Finland.
>>
>>66892852
Smooth
>>
>>66892821
Having a choppy bowlcut and collecting VCRs isn't normal in the regular world, in Finland it is.

Agreed, their HI-FI line was so great quality wise it was directly competing Denon's which was 3 to 4 times more expensive at the time. Forget Sony, Akai, Phillips and co. Crazy good hardware from Panasonic in those days.
