This show tries to be the Daily show and Real time all in the span of 20 minutes. That and Wilmore was always a one note correspondent on the daily show with no charisma

Late night television isn't striving for ratings. They are test series to see which jokes are lauded by the pubic, and which jokes are panned. If a joke or segment is praised it's highly likely a bigger name or show will table it for a later time and present it as its own once time passes.
