>Decide to start watching a TV show
>There's 13 episodes a season and there's more than 5 seasons

I seriously do not have the patience for this kind of thing. You just know 70% of that is boring filler and other 30% probably isn't worth the overall time it takes to watch it all. If you can't condense a story into less than 3 hours don't fucking bother.
>>
Did you just skip the 90s and early 00s? There were shows with 20+ episodes a season and they all had like 10 seasons.
>>
>>66887040
Yeah but back then you watched an episode a week on TV unless you bought a boxset. Nowadays you can watch them back-to-back and you really start to notice how much fucking filler there is.
>>
>>66887093
We invented this thing called the seek bar for this very reason.
>>
Nigga only anime and BBC shows have less than 26 episodes a season.
>>
>>66887093
So skip through the filler then. You don't need to sit through it.

>>66887177
Thats why theyre the best

maybe you should watch a movie
>>
the Wire comes to mind. I can't really think of anything in there that's filler since the whole show is drama
>>
Name one modern good show with only 3 episodes.

You can't

MY GAWWWD that is the hottest webm I have ever seen
>>

Could be worse. Could be 10 seasons/24 episodes a season.

If X-Files wasn't so fucking long, i woulda watched it already.
>>
>>66886984
Same thing is happening with Game of thrones with boring bits.

Same happened with show Six Feet Under: because we have to have a subplot about a lesbian teen experimentation.

And Breaking Bad: because we would rather watch Skyler scream at Walter an entire episode than see him cook and sell meth.

I was hoping for him to strangle her in the finale kek.
>>
>FILLER IS BAD

Maybe you should stop watching Television Series.
>>
>>66887113
Wut is a seek bar anon?
>>
>>66887401
Thats the reason why Life on Mars only had 2 seasons. Cos the writers didnt wanns go down this route.
>>
>>66887473
I definitely fucking should. The thing is, everybody raves about how good these shows are and then you end up buying into the hype of it all.

Are they any shows which have like, separate stories for each ep which don't really tie into one another except for the odd reference here and there? I feel like I could watch something like that.
>>
>>66887590
Watch HBO's Oz. All separate stories taking place in a prison.
>>
What would you say would be the ideal length for a TV series?

Please include:

>Number of Seasons
>Number of episodes per season
>Length of each episode
>>
>>66887590
I tried, but I just can't. I can watch 4 hour movies, but fuck watching 20 hours of a show.
>>
>>66888631
>5 seasons
>8 episodes per season
>45 minute runtime per episode

That equals a total runtime of 30 hours.
>>
>>66888694
Interesting, my opinion was
>3 seasons
>13 episodes per season
>45 minutes each

Which is about 30 hours as well. We both came up with the same total runtime.
>>
>>66888772
I feel like that's ideal. You should be able to do all the stuff you wanna do within a specific series in that timeframe. It ensures it doesn't get old or tiresome, and would keep the quality up throughout each episode. Given it was a quality show to begin, that is.
>>
>>66888824
Sounds about right. I chose 3 seasons because I like 'trilogy' approach.
