>Worldbuilding
Why is every single science fiction and fantasy television show so bad at this?
And I do mean tv shows because books films and video games do it perfectly.
They're all shot in Canada using the same sets (shot patterns, directors, lighting, ect).

Good world building is fucking expensive.
How do you do a good world building?
Because creating a show that you want to make money with that actually interests people is toooooo haaarrrrdd uh
hollywood thinks people who watch TV are retards
Only plebs care about something so insignificant and arbitrary as "world building"
>>66714389
Make it really tall.
What is 4chan obsession with Blood Meridian? Cormec McCarthy a shit
>>66713870
how is this book in your opinion? i've had it on my wishlist for a while now
>>66714389
It only takes one scene that feels right but at the same time, slightly wrong.
>>66714495
Every famous or good show has an interesting atmosphere due to the angle the world is presented
>>66714151
This. There's a reason every planet in Firefly looked like Southern California
>>66714534
Hope you habla espanol
>>66714494
Well they think people who watch movies are retards
And theyd be right
>>66714581
bastante
This is why you go to anime for sf/fantasy.
There are no physical constraints.
Check out The Expanse though. I thought it did a really decent job.
>>66714523
I can't tell if you're intentionally being ironic posting that image with that comment.
>>66713870
>farscape
`
Why are nerds so obsessed with "muh world building"?
>>66713870
>and video games
Fuck off back to >>>/v/
>>66714624
>There are no physical constraints.
But there are emotional constraints. There's nothing creepier than watching a show written by someone who's never lived their own life and you can see their autistic point of view on life in every single frame they touch, even when, or especially when I should say, you're watching a metal robot teen girl fly through the sky and call out the name of her attack with her arms behind her back before she magically transforms into a super version and they show her clothes disappearing and the next level of armor attaching to her skin.
Anime is such a fucking autistic medium.
>>66713870
The Expanse did it best
>>66714534
incredible -- get it and read it
>>66714581
there's really not that much
>>66713870
>television show
There's your problem.
if you want complex actualization of ideas, read a book. Television has too many formula obligations to have more than a few minutes per episode to devote to anything else.
>>66714759
Nigga what? That whole tarot card reading scene is very important.
>>66714635
I'm not, McCarthy a shit
>>66714740
>Anime is such a fucking autistic medium.
t. capeshit fan
Nothing in western """""cinema""""" even comes close to even recent anime masterpieces like Madoka or Tatami Galaxy
>>66714823
>read a book
>Not imagining your own infinitely detailed universes tailored specifically to your personal tastes with all the story lines or none that you could ever want
>Not escaping to your dream world when the bad people touch you which they have no right to do
>>66714888
I hate superheroes as well.
>>66714389
spend a lot of money and time constructing good sets, and you also need good source material
see: LOTR
>>66714740
meh... all I know is that shows like Cowboy Bebop, GitS:SAC, 12 Kingdoms, etc. have more effective world-building than any live action sf/fant I've ever seen.
>>66714624
>>66714746
The Expanse used the same industrial warehouse ethos as Battlestar Galacta 20 years ago. If the future looks like that I may as well move into the Chrysler plant now.
>>66714888
capeshit and anime are both fucking awful
>>66714888
>anime masterpieces
>>66715001
The thing is it actually fits contextually... industrial warehouses for an entire society of asteroid miners.
>>66714879
So are you unaware he was responsible for the existence of No Country for Old Men?
>>66715084
Of course I'm aware of it you disobedient mollusk, that reaction image was just too good to not use there
>>66715084
Terrible book, good movie
>>66714389
You basically waste really cool effects/ideas on background.
Like the Star Wars cantina scene. Tons of costumes and extras in those costumes. All to set up a tone for the place.
You basically have to show that the world around the heroes goes on without them.
>>66715154
There's barely any difference, anon
>>66714534
Most overrated pîece of shit I know. I tolerated McCarthy's style for The Road but this one is atrocious. The guy can't write a correct sentence to save his life.
