Problem with that scene is the Rex didn't capitalize on the knockdown like it should have if it was a wild animal but instead let Indominus have a breather and time to get back up. It is as if it somehow knew the Mosasaur would come up at that moment.

I think that's the implication. The T-Rex knew it couldn't beat I-Rex in a straight up fight because Indominus was so much younger and had these huge arms with talons on them. So instead it just rammed the fuck out of I-Rex with its bulk, trying to push it into the water
