The first season was great, then it started to slide and then back half of season 2 was nearly unwatchable. It turned to shit when the creators started taking themselves seriously and pandering to the audience. The emotional moments felt natural, and were rare, in S1. But by the second, they were forcing those stupid "muh feels" scenes in to every episode.

S2 is hot garbage in retrospect. 1st two episodes showed alot of effort to improve, but by the Colbert episode you'll notice they we're banking on guest stars to pull viewers/interest. The second season felt really tame and boring, that scene where Rick just murders every clone was downright cringeworthy.

I just went through Community, having seen R&M Seasons 1 and 2 beforehand, and yeah, Harmon leaves a pretty fat fucking fingerprint.
I dont know if its some psychological self sabotage or if hes just that bad, but he cannot end stuff in a safisfying manner no matter what, and instead on relies upin cheap tugs at the audience's heartstrings. I actually really enjoyed Community, and love R&M, but having feelsy bullshit is worthless if you run to it every other episode, especially considering the style of comedy in R&M. The show has no business ever taking itself seriously.
Harmon's creative control needs to be lessened, at or out a lid on him any time he mentions any sappy bullshit. Of course, were that to happen, he'd throw a tumblrina hissy fit.
Again, love both shows, but he has to stop trying to make dramedies.
