Regardless of what your opinion is on the movie, can we agree that the final battle is among the best grand-scale sci-fi action of all time, if not the best? The cinematography, the pacing, the visuals, the suspense, the cool gunships, the editing... everything was fantastic. No quick cuts, no shaky cam, no extreme close-ups. Fluid camera motions and a great eye for what the audience needs and wants to see and how to orchestrate it. Cameron knows how to deliver action

There was no way TFA was going to beat Avatar. Avatar literally transported you to a different world. Pandara was beautiful to watch in theaters. Also the action was very satisfying, the film was a complete spectacle. It felt grand.
The Force Awakens is the complete opposite. It felt like a watered down action film with Marvel Solo film sensibilities. It was essentially a two hour trailer for Episode 8.
Avatar 2 will be more worth the 8 year wait than The Force Awakens' 30 year wait for Return of the Jedi.
