So tv. When Do you Think Dune Will Get What It Deserves?
>>
Never

It's too complicated for a mass audience, and without that sort of budget it's never going to be any good
>>
>>64735055
Awe common man. That makes me sad. lol
>>
I bet when the concept of like Netflix takes over the industry they will have an opportunity to make it into something; as people could watch it at home being it would be way to complicated for the theaters.
>>
>>64735255
I could see it being a game of thrones type drama
>>
It did with the SciFi Channel miniseries.
>>
>>64735292
Yea exactly. It would have to have quite the budget behind it to.
>>
Once they get Jodorowski to do his version.
>>
>>64735323
"what it deserves"
>>
>>64735361
He passed his visions down to that guy as-well so if the old man croaks over it'll be all good. This is reassuring .
>>
>>64735055

pretty much

if it gets the screenplay it deserves it'll never get the budget it needs, and vice versa

the best you could expect would be some game-of-thrones esque show on some premium network, which would still inevitably be dumbed down and altered for more widespread consumption by modern audiences

until then just live with the scifi mini-series, despite the low budget it does a decent job with capturing the story
>>
Modern audiences would not be able to deal with the fact that the haji mudslimes are the good guys
>>
>>64735384

It was great and you know it.

I agree with this guy. The miniseries is really awesome and probably as good as a film adaptation could be. Great cast, great art direction, great use of lighting. Everybody should just watch this and stop pretending they give a shit about Jorodowski even though those same plebs probably never heard of him before the documentary and if they had ever bothered to watch any of his films would know that his version of Dune would have turned out an incompressible mess at best.

Newsflash. When it originally came out, it was universally loved by us nerds. I don't know what happened over the years. Probably just another case of /tv/ having to hate what everyone else likes.

I provided reasons how the miniseries was great, you have yet to provide any reasons why you feel it is not.
>>
I felt like the end of the the original move was rushed as hell. Like "oh shit we only got x amount of run-time left"
>>
>>64736520
>end of the original movie was rushed
It also ass rapes the source material. "And then Muad'Dib made it rain on Arrakis. Oh which would kill all the sandworms, end Spice production and destroy the Empire he just conquered... THE END!"
>>

Irk?
* Cheesy music aaaaaaaaand credits
>>
>>64736639

thats what happened in the novels eventually anyways

they left the equatorial strip desert for the makers and turned the rest of arakkis green

though paul didnt do it with apparent magic, and he also did it much later
