i've used a lot of other viewers that either just dont work or get interrupted frequently.
at least vlc keeps going even if everything gets gray and corrupted
can someone explain to me, using logic and reasoning, why vlc is a bad player?

it was bad back in the day (no hardware decoding, poor ass subtitle support, shitty renderer options) but it's fine now. mpc-hc is preferred if you like the granular controls over decoding and quality options.

if your GPU is shitty then it doesn't matter, just use VLC
I use MPC-HC.
VLC is nice though. I still recommend it to plebs who just a got a new computer and are wondering what media player they should use since even they can see that Windows Media is shit.
VLC looks washed out by default and it takes much longer to load than MPC-HC

MPC wins over VLC for subtitle rendering, try starting with German cinema, you ameros like that fascist shit afterall.

What am I missing out on? Has MPC-HC gotten any better?
I can't play any HD movies on VLC without stuttering like crazy, while those same files run on MPC fine with the same quality.
MPC wins for me.
