Don't know if there's already been a thread about this.
Don't if this belongs here or /jp/
I just know I'm fucking excited.

You're posting on a meme and capeshit board
>>64500293
>grow up
>every other thread is man children going on about cape shit and shill wars
It's at least something different
>>64500293
Don't you have a space ninjas thread to start?
Can we talk about how fucked up this movie is going to be?

>6 months away
>only promo material is shakey cam filmed in one afternoon
Come on!
Hopefully it will be better than the last one.
Zilla 2014 was shit. Great first half, complete turd second half. You know your movie is poorly made when the audience LAUGHS at the first appearance of the 'hero' and booed when the 'villains' were killed.
>>64500499
>You know your movie is poorly made when the audience LAUGHS at the first appearance of the 'hero' and booed when the 'villains' were killed.
you say that like this happened universally. wtf are you talking about?
>>64500499
I experienced none of this. People cheered for godzilla, cheered for the breath and for Kiss of death
This movie is gonna be Anno's fucking over the hill edge
>getting excited for scabzilla
I'm a huge Godzilla fan too but this looks like a trainwreck already. I'm just here for the memes.
>>64500533
When I saw it that's what the audience did. There was actually really heavy booing when Captain Charisma military son blew up the eggs.
I guess the people I was in the theater with weren't retarded and understood the MUTOs were doing nothing wrong. Also Zilla's first appearance in the movie is terrible, he comes close to breaking the 4th wall.
>>64500547
>anno's fucking over the hill edge
I don't understand.
>>64500580
Anno pretty much makes no fun allowed stuff now and is always on the verge if mental breakdown. The fact that this is how his godzilla will be solidifies it
>>64500563
I liked the mutos too. Femmuto turned me on in a weird way, like the scene where it walks over the bridge and it's belly shakes over the camera.
Sad they won't be in the sequel.
I'm just happy they're going for a way more classic design, apart from the scars.
>>64500603
I've never seen anything he's done but I feel like no fun would still be better than the flying, dancing, waves at children godzilla of the 70s. I Mean isn't that why they made the heisei godzilla?
>>64500603
>and is always on the verge if mental breakdown
This is true. That's the reason he passed on Evangelion 4.0 to make this instead. Was having another reminder that Ikuhara would never be his during 3.0's production, has a breakdown, does Godzilla to vent off some psychological steam.
Reminder godzilla did nothing wrong

This will either be a hell-crazed mindfuck of a movie, or complete hokey disaster.
He's a very hit and miss director, but when he hits, he hits hard.
>>64500265
>mfw Godzilla was originally a horror film and allegory for Hiroshima
I like the campy Showa films too but fuck, I wish people would stop acting like dark, serious Godzilla films are something completely new.
It's been a while since we've had a good, dark Godzilla movie.
Also, rumors are saying Shin Goji's scars are temporary. He's regenerating from the oxygen destroyer.
Such a nice lizard
is this the one with the guy from Evangelion?
>>64500931
>>64500939
>regenerating from OD
can we move a way from the whole "everything new is a direct sequel to 54" idea? It's a great movie, but literally 80% of all new continuities start as "we ignore everything but 54". It's time to let go
>>64500959
Yes.
>>64500746
>>64500932
YOU FUCKING IDIOT, DON'T FUCKING SPOIL 2 OF THE BIGGEST MOMENTS OUT OF CONTEXT IN THE ENTIRE SERIES/FILM.
PLEASE DON'T WATCH THOSE CLIPS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN EVANGELION.
PLEASE!
>>64500626
I thought I was the only one who got a raging erection at that scene
>>64500939
I love both serious and silly godzilla but I still, deep down want a complete grimdark edgy shitshow and I really hope this is the one.
>>64500980
I'd normally agree with you but I'm holding judgement until we know the plot.
I'm probably in the minority that wants an art film godzilla. I don't think this will be that but I'm holding out hope.
>>64501054
Me too but the Japs have tendency to make things edgy for the sake of edge.
I want it to mean something. I want this to be about the fukushima disaster or the real looming threat of world war 3 and not just destruction porn with titanzilla.
>>64500265
I just hope they bring Hank Azaria back.
>>64501100
I think pretty much everyone does, at least when it became hip and cool to like the first movie. That's why they were pushing how "dark" the '14 Godzilla was going to be before it was revealed to be crap.
I'm not talking about Japan of couse, I don't know what they want from godzilla. But everything seems to suggest that they're in the mood for a dark take on it too. I think the American godzilla was relatively successful there?
>>64501041
Who cares, they perfectly demonstrate that Anno can do a great, intense kaiju-themed action scene if necessary.
This movie comes out in japan this summer but how are we in the west supposed to see it?
How long does it normally take one of these movies to get translated?
>>64501874
I'm not entirely sure if Warner has the distributing rights in the west for Godzilla stuff, and I think Toho was asking around at some film festival last fall while showing off test footage to potential distributors
So basically
>Warner distributes it
or
>literal who distributes it with little to no marketing
or
>limited theater run with the above
or
>delayed release to America and/or limted theater run
or, worst case scenario
>not released in the west, but like with EVA 3.0 some kind anons slap some subs on a camrip and share
We might even just get a home-video release, but I feel that Godzilla still has enough of a presence to justify at least a limited run
>>64502435
There have been a lot of Japanese movies getting short weekend releases in the US lately. Last big one was Attack on Titan. I'm optimistic that it won't be too hard to see in theaters.
>>64501041
if someone cared about spoilers for a twenty year old show they wouldn't be watching random clips of it anyway, idiot
>>64502954
>>64502435
Eva 3.0 actually had a limited theatrical run in the US too. In some multiplex-level theaters too, not just the smaller places you'd expect to show something like that. It wasn't concurrent with the domestic release at all, but hey
That thing looks fucking horrifying, Jesus Christ.
>>64501041
It's just some robots flailing about, what's the big deal?
