I've only ever seen guys order old fashions. The reason girls get into it is the muddled cherry and orange which makes it even sweeter.
A real old fashioned doesn't muddle cherry and orange though, it's just whisky, bitters, and sugar stirred then given a orange peel zest. They taste so much better and different
