I can't find a single thing wrong with the execution of this film.

The fact that it wasn't very accurate to the actual Zodiac investigation is the only flaw. Robert Graysmith was also a sociopath himself.
Last forth of the movie is boring as fuck, the protagonist should have been Robert Downey Jr., but it was the worst character of the movie instead

The only problem with the film is that the most important detail explaining Lewis' character behaviour was entirely cut from the final film.
And that detail is that he was sterile, which explains his anti-pathy towards people.

the film is far too slow and repetitive. no big satisfying moments and is ultimately far too long without much payoff

It's a really well made movie but yeah, a lot of its appeal will be lost to people that aren't interested in true crime and aren't already familiar with the case.

Revealed by someone in the film's production whose interview I read a few years ago.
Would explain the whole story, but the director decided to leave it out to make it more ambiguous for viewers.
