she is really shit at her job isn't she, why do he pick such a fuck up
good movie tho
>>
>>64420067
It's clearly said in the movie the nigger and her were only attached to give some kind of semblance of doing things by law. The CIA can't operate within the US border without another agency looking over things, but as you see they gave no fucks and did what they want anyway and kept them in the dark
>>
>>64420067
I hate these threads. It was fucking obvious why any of them were there. I would understand if it was a dumb movie where they completely fucked up the imagery compared to the message but Sicario did no such thing.

She was apprehensive about being involved in what she thought was an illegal operation. She could be excused for thinking that when they literally charged into another country, got into a gunfight in a hugely crowded area and pissed off all without them telling her what the fuck was going on.
Even later on when they tell her that it's all good and it's all been okayed from higher-up she still is still understandably hesitant about the US government helping one drug cartel to help another.

She was an FBI SWAT agent, not a SFOD-D operator or CIA SAD paramilitary officer like everyone else in the movie.

One cartel controlling everything in the pocket of the CIA vs a bunch of cartels constantly at war with each other that you cannot control.

Neither is great, but at least one can be kind of contained.

>>
>>64420067
She seemed pretty good at her job. She was just not actually doing her job.

Her job was a SWAT agent specialising in recovering kidnapped people or some shit. When she's operating with a clear goal and hard targets like in the opening she doesn't seem bad.

Her job isn't to be a super special CIA secret agent doing illegal operations in foreign territory, which is what she was dragged along into.

Firefighters aren't very good police officers either.
>>
>>64420638

Her job was to be there mate. That's it. She did that pretty well.

Mustache meets military regulation, pegging him as active duty military assigned to CIA SAD.

DEA agents are civilian federal employees under the Department of Justice and he seemed to be familiar with the SFOD-D guys, so he was probably SFOD-D recruited to CIA SAD.

Certainly. But that doesn't mean you're gonna want to sit there and watch it whenever it's happening. It's not an inherently pleasant thing to see. Being able to do it in spite of that doesn't mean you want to watch it happen whenever the opportunity arises, you know?

Glasses like that are basically all you are allowed to wear in the military, they have to be black or brown and have no logos or anything like that, can't be goofy shapes, and you do get little straps like that to keep them on your face, only the ones you are issued when the Army gives you glasses aren't blue.

>>

Depends on the unit really. As long as they aren't funky colors you are usually fine.

She was an investigatory agent in Hostage recovery, not a SWAT officer (FBI Tac team) rolling with a branch Tac team on a raid location she had been investigating.
She probably got her first kill/shots fired in anger/explosion in the opening scene raid , the highest speed shit besides that she could have done in her career is being in the same place as FBI HRT.
>>64421329
She's not on HRT.
HRT pulls people from Army rangers/SEAL teams and would never let an attachment/investigator stack up with them, best case scenario she's worked cases with their involvement.

CIA S.A.D. spooks, and best of the best special forces who thrive in combat.

>>64421512

Ex-SF (Doesn't have to be SFOD)
But not attached/assigned, more likely has ETS'd and recently made the full transition to CIA SAD because he was referred to as Agent - grooming habits die hard btw

Room Clearing 101 a bit here:

The black dude was behind her in the stack and would have been 2nd in the room (doesn't show him until before and after the shoot)
Technically black dude should have been the one to shoot him, I wouldn't be suprised if there is a deleted scene of him getting caught up in the door.

More realistically though she should have buttonhooked into that corner with the black guy behind her going where she went, her eyes could get a quick glance at the room and her gun barrel would already be pointing in the direction of the threat.

It's quite obvious by that scene she is inexperienced and is only alive through sheer luck

SO:
1: She crossed an entire open danger danger area and almost got blasted instead of button hooking into the room (going right instead of left, barrel at the ready)
2:Her partner, also inexperienced, almost got her fucking killed because he didn't get into the room and shoot the baddie.
>>
>>64420067
Why does /v/eddit hate her so much?

She was a good cop. They kept her in the dark to the max, they just wanted another legal patsy for their operation.
>>
>>64422555
Because she was in so far over her head she should have GTFO.
>>
She did great desu
>>
>>64422643
That was intentional. If they wanted her or another dude to tear shit up he/she would've been briefed and trained on the situation. She knew she was out of her element but she wanted to see how deep the rabbit hole went. She also hoped to make a difference in some way.

She didn't realize just how in over her head she was until it was too late. They manipulated her pretty effectively. They got her to stay on the ride because she'd seen how bad the cartel violence had gotten firsthand and was frustrated by it, but they kept her in the dark just enough to keep her tagging along without realizing the true intention of the operation.

even if she stayed where she was going, lets call it the hypothetical path of least resistance, her partner's gun should have been in that door killing that dude right after she reached that door threshold.

Your supposed to "explode" into a room and fan out into the corners and search, if you ever watch room clearing vids with trained 4 man teams clearing rooms, all 4 gun barrels are up in the room covering sectors in no fucking time at all - they literally explode into a room, it gets even better when you have multiple teams/squads leapfrogging room to room.
There is an order, a methodical deliberation to this chaos
>>
>>64422844
what was really cool was how completely cold and professional the CIA/SFOD guys were

like, in any other action movie, there would be a big firefight and some dudes might die, but this movie definitely made an effort just to show how fucking badass these guys were

all of the operators were trained killers and already had targets acquired the second they stepped out of the vehicle. it just goes to show how completely outclassed those mexican gangsters were in terms of tactics and knowledge. those guys didn't know who they were up against

Yes, it was a /k/ movie and it's why in most cases the Cartels knows how far to go. At least they did know how far to go until the Zetas got involved, and then the Justice department brokered deals with the sinola Cartel to be the one big Shark instead of the many Piranha who destroyed and ate everything, and after their efforts began, viola, here we are. To get by, Zetas now engage in petty criminality, theft, kidnapping, assassinations etc.

But you take life long fighters, some of your best, From Delta Force, and you put them against a rag tag bunch, there'll be a clear and obvious canyon sized operator capability between the two.

pretty much what the dude wrote you can apply to video games. Dont be a pussy you wont really die when you play your video games. No you are just describing shitty movies with female leads.

Alien(s)' ripely was an awesome female arc. Because she was just that a woman. Not a woman trying to be a dude or be in charge just cause. Just a woman that got thrown into a fucked up situation and made it out. Not because she is a "strong womanz" but because she fought for it in her own way.

I blame shitty and unimaginative writing on why their are so many shit lead female roles in action type movies.

Edge of Tomorrow did a pretty good job of that female lead. It all made sense how and why she was able to do what she did in that film instead of just saying oh she is strong womanz she can do anything

We all know America hates Assad because, Russia. And we all know that Isis is giving Iran, who are Shia, a run for its money. But the problem with Isis is that they're a wild card, and one that could lead to even more problems down the road. I know the CIA enjoy playing their civilization chess game but when a radical gets his hand on a nuke, and there are nukes out there my friend, all bets are off and everyone's as screwed as everyone else.

i promise you though, if isis, an Islamic fundamentalist group who are following the Koran kinda accurately don't you know, when they get their hands on a nuke and wipe out a bunch of westerners, the westerners will blame all religion for the problem and go after Christianity first with sanctions.

>>64425271
yes everyone knows this, but in the film it is treated as a revelation
>>
>>64425271
Because the Zetas were Phucking loco! they really elevated sick shittery, to an entirely knew level.
>>
>>64425336
there are people on this very board who doesn't believe the CIA dabbles in Cocaine and Terrorism. their level of pleb is off the charts senpai!
>>
Did anyone else really like Josh Brolin in this? I thought he'd be some hippy asshole then he turns out to be ice cold.

Do you think the water jug scene in Sicario was a throwback to Traffic?
>>
>>64425320
ill give you a hint. Russia also does not like Muslims.
>>
So are a lot of the guys in this movie private military contractors? Are they employed by the US government? Are they pretty much legally allowed to do whatever is necessary?

I thought that Del Toro going Sam Fisher at the end felt a little bit unconvincing and it spoiled the film a bit for me.
>>
>>64425336
Well You saying everyone knows this then say "in the film". That right there completely shuts down anything else you have to say.
>>
>She sees all the horrible shit done by the cartels
>Still seems bothered about procedure at the end of the movie

Plot hole.

Disgusting score.

Are you new to /tv/? The same thing happened when The Dark Knight rises came out, and alot of movies. /tv/ nerds are too shy to leave the house.
>>
>>64425767
they're CIA and delta

both units operate in plain clothes uniforms to keep their identities secret, hence why brolin was wearing flipflops in the briefing room at the fbi

until they gear up and move out, delta and cia just look like us because anonymity and secrecy are part of the gig
>>
>>64425792
maybe if the film was set in some fantasy world, but it isn't
>>
>>64425767
>Are they pretty much legally allowed to do whatever is necessary?

No they have ROEs too

>So are a lot of the guys in this movie private military contractors? Are they employed by the US government?
Some are yes. Some may even be bounty hunters. Yes the US gov employees them. Why? You get what you pay for more often than not. Not only that the US government is only capable of doing so much. Its really astonishing what people think of the US government and what actually goes on it the US government. Its a cluster fuck from the bottom up with a few mother fuckers that know what the fuck they are doing and how to do it. Youll never really know those people though.
>>
>>64425750
Tried to watch at cinema but no showings on weekdays and I work weekends

del Toro's character was the Mary Sue.

So when the he stands with his crotch in his force, does he force him to suck his dick? The scene cuts to the drain and I didn't really understand what was happening.

Seems a bit iffy sticking a dick in someone's mouth when they could bite it off.
>>
>>64426180
I doubt he raped him
rape is shitty but there are more effective torture techniques
>>
>>64426180
>crotch in his force

Crotch in his face
>>
>>64420067
Her job was a door kicker for the fbi, and she was good at that. Then she gets thrown in the deep end at something she has neither the training or the experience, her main mistake was going along with everything, probably out of fear.
>>
>>64425488
he was the coolest of Characters though. dude wasn't Jaded he was just a snake who gets to pretend to be a peace loving hippy. it's all a rouse. notice how he sleeps and Benecio has nightmares? Sure Benecio lost his family, but notice how Benecio sits up to sleep and Josh's character lays down with his shoes off, not a care in the world or an ounce of Remorse. it's as if Satan forgot he was a cold blooded, counterfeit fraudulent angel of light impersonator, who is nigh manipulative and is a murdering roaring lion who absolutely detest righteous morality and remains an unrepentant mankind hating bugger, and was made into flesh, then had his hatred for mankind removed from him, and that's Josh Brollin's character.
>>
>>64425938
Settle down /v/eddit, just because u don't understand something doesn't mean it's a plothole
>>
>>64425731
for a smart guy you're not very good at watching signs and predicting the flow on the market due to it. I'm Axe's character on Billions. Socially though, and not whatever it is you think I"m at. being autistic helps me see the world abstractly so it's all data following other data that was put there by even more data.

so you find patterns in the data, call it information and share it to anyone who'd listen. there are patterns though.

Yes, it may only be a coincidence, but what if it isn't one though?
>>
>>64425970
magically my ass. In Colombian many Prosecutors are former cops and military. Plus, the devil himself, Josh Brollin's character said of how he worked for several organizations.

Mary Sue Rey was a trash collector and seller one day and a bad ass Jedi Master, Space Pilot, Dog fighter, hand to hand Supreme Grand Master and a saber master, Ms Congeniality and able to talk droid, all within the span of a few hours.
>>
>>64426429
>In Colombian many Prosecutors are former cops and military.

Then why did he let his wife get her head cut off and his daughter drowned in a barrel of acid?

You're saying he had these skills BEFORE he was a prosecutor?
>>
>>64421450
corner camping pussy. i'd thrown in a flash then executed a running knee slide into the room.

IMFDB is your friend

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Sicario

Because of this site, i know one of the cartel guys used the same gun as heath legend in TDK. It's one of the most interesting websites I've found.

>>

You don't know the conditions of how it went down. But I think I know what you're going after but here's my take. he and his family is asleep and bang, their house is invaded and he and them is taken, his wife's beheaded before his eyes, and his beautiful Daughter, Juana, is held high above a sicario's head and dumped head first into a five gallon dream of acid.

Upon seeing that he, with strength that's likened to one on pcp, pulls away from his detractors and murders them all, horribly.
>>
>>64425950
no its not a cop out. because film is to entertain you, not to educate you on proper FBI tactics.

Usual Suspects sorta
>>
>>64426761

The only problem with, for me at least, is that I would think someone with that sort of training, and also prosecuting cartel members so he's familiar with their tactics...why wouldn't he anticipate such a hit, or have super tight security on a compound, or whatever.

This wouldn't be a problem for me if it was the only plothole, but it's one of a half a dozen.
>>
>>64427936
Then you've obviously not watched or read about the death of several judges and prosecutors and even former Captains, bosses and Sicarios themselves who has done more or less the same thing.
>>
>>64427936
>>64428124
live normally in lieu of their most wanted status.

You have a lot more prosecutors and judges and police seniors and government officials who has dozens of body guards working for them who aren't as foolish and sad as those who took the assassins for granted.
>>
>>64428124

Feel free to link to me a story about the death of a judge who was a trained operative.

HOLA REDDIT, QUIERES MORIR?
>>
>>64428295
never said he was a trained operative when his family died, said he could have been ex military and or law enforcement, namely police. becoming an op isn't as impossible as you think it is anon. Zetas had members who were trained by U.S. Special Forces and of whom left the Police Force. They numbered in the thousands. Becoming A spec Op only takes a few extra steps for one familiar with the military and or Police swat training, of which all police in Colombia and Mexico, has.
