Was there any original music in TFA? While the prequels had their flaws, they had their own music that stood out and made them memorable and distinct.
I don't remember any new music in The Force Awakens.

I noticed Rey's theme, but I can't remember it
>>64414043
Most of the new themes were boring and/or forgetabble. Most of the soundtrack was just paying homage to the OT. Much like the whole movie.
>>64414043
Rey's theme feels suitably Star Wars.
>>64414043
This theme for some reason makes me think of the feeling of childlike wonder.

I could just imagine being a kid and being so intrigued by the older films. I dunno why but this track just makes me think of that.
>>64414043
yeah it just doesn't sound as good on the camrip that you watched
Can someone find the list of songs john william ripped off?
Rey and Kylo both had an indistinct and pretty forgettable theme, I had to make myself pay attention to notice it the second time. They aren't really songs, just vague motifs. Reys is a little jumpy, light, and mysterious sounding. Kylo is some aggresive four or five note horn blaring motif, reminded me of something relating to Mordor in LOTR.

That blonde girl is pretty qt
>>64414043
Hell yeah, check The March of the Resistance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueqKtype7Kk
And Rey's Theme is pretty memorable too. I believe Kylo won't be getting a theme until the next movie, pretty much as Vader did in ESB through the Imperial March, he's got the 5 note motif going through "In the inside", "Kylo arrives at battle" and "Torn Apart"

All the music in the OT was beautiful, and the prequels had a ton of amazing memorable peices as well
The new score does not even compare
>battle of endor 2
>rebel fleet theme
>boba fetts theme
>confederacy
>battle of heroes
>across the starts
All GOAT
>>64415094
Battle of endor 2 is the best
Rey's theme has that nice flute tune I can still hum in my head but it gets muddled after that.
>>64414043
Rey has more masculine features than Luke. That's gay
Reminder Rey's theme was shit and one of the most non star wars thing's about the movie
>>64415040
March of the Resistance is really good
https://youtu.be/ueqKtype7Kk
>>64415211
It's no where near the others though
>>64414043
So true. The music was forgettable.
>>64415237
Yeah but you shouldn't really expect something better (because of just how amazing the originals are), but rather just a good score.
I'm just happy we're getting more based John.
>>64415160
LITERALLY Harry Potter.
And the Resistance theme is Indiana Jones.
>>64415431
i dont understand whats happening in this comic at all
>more memewars threads
>>64414043
The only memorable theme in the prequels was Duel of the Fates, stop lying saying they had good music.
>>64416097
i liked the federation march.

>>64416184
Again, the only memorable one is Duel of the Fates, the others are pure shit, and the semidecent one (Anakin vs Obi Wan) is a fucking remix using the imperial march from the original trilogy and other themes like, surprise! Duel of the fucking Fates.
>>64414043
Yes. I'll cut you some slack since the pacing, editing, and sound design was such that there wasn't much room for or focus on the score.
>>64414777
Kylo's brass theme (he has two) is actually the first few notes of Han and the Princess backwards.

ok, looks like it's not exactly the same but's it's very close.
>>64417496
They're both 5 note motifs, I'll give you that, but they're far from being reversed or call-response.
I even compared them on keyboard, and they don't connect.
>>64416274
there is original music, that is the fact here and that's what you asked for you fucking autist
>>64414043
>Was there any original music in TFA? While the prequels had their flaws, they had their own music that stood out and made them memorable and distinct.
Out of over 100 minutes of music in TFA, Williams has stated that only about 7 minutes worth was existing score. It's nearly all new.
>>64417899
I asked for GOOD music you moron, learn to fucking read. ofc there were original tracks in the prequels they just were all forgetable shit.
>>64416097
Across the Stars, you fucking autist
Rey's theme was quite memorable and Kylo had that 5-note fanfare but other than that yeah it was mostly just the Force theme over and over again.
>>64415160
yeah it really took me out of it, sounded like someone playing yodas theme badly
