anakin was poorly done by George, but the guy looked menacing sometimes. like that time he killed those dudes on that planet and his eye turned yellow evil. shit was creepy and so creepy that in all of the poorly written dialogue that was the series, that one shot more than made up for it. then Hayden opened his mouth and I was again reminded of how poor the character's dialogues were.

Kylo Ren was intentionally written as a wuss. His character is a critique of young white males who seek to maintain retrograde values of masculinity in a patriarchial society. Kylo wants to be like Darth Vader but is only familiar with the image/pretense of Vader. His failure to fulfill this image he has of Vader, and thus his idealized masculinity, causes him to be insecure and emotionally volatile.
