the most damning thing about the case to me was the recording of the cop calling in the plate of hallbachs car, when it wouldn't be found for many days. My idea is that hallbachs ex followed her, got her to stop her car, shot her in the head, put her in the back of her car drove it to the quarry and burned her body to remove evidence.
Cop finds the car, they suspect Avery but don't see how they can tie it to him, they take the burned remains near the car, the car keys are still in the ignition, they move the car to the averys lot at night, take blood from the evidence vial and put it in the car, put the bone fragments in the burn pit. put the key in his room put the bullet fragment in the garage. The fact that there's none of theresas blood anywhere but the car is suspicious.

The first case against him followed the good ole boy system where the sheriff put him away because the victim was married to a deputy while they had evidence that it wasn't him that the DA was aware of. Not all cops are corrupt, but corruption is a common problem in police forces the world over.

Sounded pretty conclusive to me, but it is plausible the government was just making shit up. I mean if you put EDTA in blood samples to preserve them, and there is no EDTA in the blood at the scene, it could not have come from the preserved vial. Its not like EDTA is a volatile compound, its not gonna evaporate or anything. and if it was just below the detection limit of the procedure that was some really fucking dishonest testimony by FBI mustache chemist
