Why is it that in movie scenes where the plane is going down,

Why is it that in movie scenes where the plane is going down, the pilot/hero/whoever will have to use all their strength to pull back on the control column? Isn't it kind of a bane if an aircraft has cockpit controls that require a pilot to have herculean strength to operate it?

they are moving the rudders directly

BANE?
>>
>>64331595
If the plane doesn't have hydraulic controls, then physical strength is actually needed to actuate the control surfaces.

how the fucking fuck do people use all those buttons

Airbuses have control systems that are automatic now and don't have any force required.

Boeings though still require some physical force to move.

Pilots actually prefer this to the Airbus design, consider it smoother to control.

It's not as complicated as it looks. Half of those instruments and controls are redundancies for the copilot. Flying a plane while everything is working is easy. Most of what they are paid for is knowing what to do in the ten thousand situations where something goes wrong.

i flew a single prop a few times. the landings are complicated.

i realized that being able to fly only about 100 mph isn't going to be very useful and will cost a shit ton for a license

>>64333788
Yeah, most of that shit is to manually control systems that normally are automatic.
>>
planes fly themselves now the pilot and co-pilot are like maintenace guys / technicians / IT support for when something goes wrong. The computer flies the plane, and pretty soon there won't need to be any human pilots on board, air stewards/ stewardesses and pilots will be the same job, and air traffic control will be able to control the plane remotely.
>>
the flight is taken care of by the design of the physical design/ form of the plane drifting on the air currents, taking off is the only thing that needs to be controlled
>>
At certain speeds if you pull up to sharply you risk tearing off the wings.
>>
>>64334307

wtf? how can you tare off the rings by pulling on the joy stick?

Gs, G. It's more complicated than that, but it's been 20 years since I've studied this shit.

What a stupid sexy plane.

pilots only use a few at the front. computer controls the rest.

the switches are there so the engineer on the ground can tell you how to do something incase the computer fail except the computer actually never fails
>>
>>64333601
It's a concorde tho
>>
>>64331595
If I flip that switch will you die?

This they basically fly themselves.
>>

The problem with software is that every new software has bugs.

Airbus has an incredible saftey record but computers arent without their own risks. Thats why full automation will take forever to impliment. Legally anyways.
