I am not surprised. He is an excellent craftsman make no mistake, but over-analysis is the greatest disservice one can do unto a director. I will never understand the obsession with him, though he made good movies.

Misunderstood in America at least. Most normies only know him as le Birds guy, not the genius he really was. Europeans apparently respected him in the 50s and 60s and such.
