She understands plenty of languages from the get go.
They introduce that in one scene where she is able to understand BB8 and talk an alien language to the junker who has it in a net. She doesn't intuit Wookie she already knows it. It's likely something to be revealed in her child backstory.
They should have had Rey do less and given other characters more opportunity to fill roles. BB-8 should have jacked in to the ship and saved finn from the monster. Accessing the terminal and shunting off the blast door would be a very R2 thing to do from the OT.

They say they'll flood the ship with gas, then hide in the floorboards with gas masks on. Han and Chewie walk in and find them in the floor boards and then get them out and talk to them. What about the poison gas?

In the old movies the Stormtroopers were incompetent (bar the first few minutes of the movie), but the leadership was competent (Vader, Tarkin, etc.) In the new movies, the leadership is utterly inept, with Phasma being taken prisoner with no resistance and complying with everything and Kylo being so weak he loses against an untrained force user. Poe on the other hand shoots down Ties like they're nothing, Finn just one-shots Stormtroopers left and right and Rey figures out how to do whatever she needs to do just as she needs it.
Things also happen way too fast. "We need to get the shields down" "I got an idea", one minute later and the shields are down.

The pacing felt like a transformers movie, I didn't feel any tension. A lot of the humor was funny but most of it wasn't. Way to many distractions and straight up world breaking ass pulls (like for real anakins lightsaber fell down the cloud city shaft how the fuck did someone find that. ) bad guys were way under powered. Good guys were either useless when they shouldn't have been or way to op for no reason. A few of the reasons this is my least favorite one.

Even rewatching the prequels I felt tension, like during the podrace, the dookus fight in ep 2, the end fight in ep3 etc. By the time they went to rescue her in tfa i still didn't feel tension because she was shown to get random force powers when she needed them for no reason and to rescue herself a lot so no I wanted worried in the slightest. I knew that she would get out fine with or without anyone's help
