Why was it so bad bros?
>>64296236
Tone. It wants to be like the original (stripped down, back to basics, no riches) but it also wants to be trendy and have new age hip hop music, a corny as fuck villian, and an end fight that is straight out of some cheesy 90s action movie with the bad editing and black and white mic footage cut in. They should've stuck to the directors cut version
>>64296236
Depressing as fuck. Which would be fine if the previous movie wasn't so bombastic and glorious.
Rocky IV was just too good to make a sequel
>>64296236
At least creed was a good movie.
>>64296447
This is also the only Rocky movie where Rocky is just unlikeable. He's an asshole to his son the entire movie.
>>64296947
It was hero's fall, sempai. Besides, people call him for his bullshit and Rocky made amends for his mistakes
>>64296947
To be fair, it's hard to deal with your son going from age 8 to 12 in less than a month
>>64296236
Paulie losing their money was a blight on the story arc. 4 and 5 were the worst. the rest are good to classic.
>>64297533
4 was better than 3.
I believe the original script had Rocky dying in the street fight and this was the plan during filming. But they chickened out last minute and the story straight lost it's true conclusion and shoehorned a generic happy ending. In hindsight though I'm glad it happened since Rocky Balboa and Creed are pretty good movies
>>64297668
Rocky dying would have been a worse ending.
Rocky Rankings:
High Tier: 1>2>4>3>Balboa >POWER GAP> low tier: 5
Haven't seen creed yet

>4
>worst
Get the fuck out of here
>>64297668
>Rocky dying in the street fight
It's hard for me to wrap my around why Stallone would ever want to do this in the first place. It's good thing he didn't though. Rocky getting killed by a fucking loser like Tommy in the worst film of the franchise would have been a bummer.
>>64297687
I haven't seen Balboa yet, but I agree otherwise.
I'm of the few people who actually liked Rocky V but Rocky losing his money was such a cop-out. He just destroyed communism on the last movie and he did it for avenging a friend. That's the kind of story that should bring him millionaire offers for making commercials, books and even movies. With that money, Rocky could easily open his own gym chain or like 50 Adrian's if he likes Italian food so much. Michael Jordan makes more money after his retirement than during his career and he didn't destroy communism. Rocky should be richer than ever
>>64299650
>He just destroyed communism
I'm not mocking your post or anything, that's just the funniest thing I've read in awhile.
>>64299650
I think at the beginning of V there's a bullshit scene where a lawyer tells Rocky that he can't get any more sponsorships because he has a criminal record from when he was a loansharker.
>>64297533
The entire thing was poorly planned. Stallone just need an excuse for making Rocky poor again and he used a Paulie-ex-machina.
Anyway, it's kinda hard to make Rocky poor considering the guy is a fucking saint. Boxers lose their money by expensive divorces, problems with the law, maintaining their army of yes-men and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Any of those would be too out-of-character for Rocky. Maybe it could work with a timeskip (very needed to explain why Rocky's son aged at least 4 years on a month). Maybe Rocky spent too much like the brute he is and his fame evaporated after the boxing fans moved on to the next novelty. A movie about Rocky as a 80s relic could be painful as fuck, especially considering that was about to happen to the 80s muscular heroes but I guess Stallone's ego would never allow it
>>64299827
That's bullshit. Murricans love redemption stories. In fact, that would make Rocky an even bigger celebrity
>>64297668
>>64297685
>>64297718
Fun fact: Stallone changed Rocky V ending because, according to him, that would be like killing Superman. Guess what happened next year
>>64300110
Kek. Stallone also lobbied really hard to play Superman if I remember correctly.
SUE

He was write, the comic book industry is run by hacks.

Directors cut?
Its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward tier:
1
Balboa
Creed
Hearts on fire tier:
2
3
4
Stop! Or My Mom will shoot tier:
5
Rocky > III > Creed > IV > Balboa > II > Never Back Down > V
>>64300507
>3 that high
Explain.
Because it was cheesy as fuck, a general bummer and then made further redundant by Rocky 6 which effectively "fixed" everything
>>64300449
Available on dailymotion. It's a legitimate cut
>>64300476
COWARDS DO THAT AND THAT AINT YOU
That entire bit felt like it was ripped straight from the original, Balboa was sometimes ridiculous but sometimes very beautiful

Scenes women won't understand
Rocky Power Ranking
4- Best montages. Better story. Best cliche' 80's Cold War propoganda. Best Robot. Best villian. If you don't like Rocky 4 you're a Commie Faggot.
1- Because it's actually a great movie.
3- Because Mr.T. Mickey's death. Eye of the Tiger. Best bromance montage.
2- Good redemption movie about a 2nd Second Chance
Rocky Balboa- It has good speeches. But it just felt sad.
5- No redeemable qualities.
I haven't seen Creed yet so I can't judge it.
why is adrian all gung ho about rocky possibly dying in his battle against communism in rocky 4 when shes in hysterics throughout 2 and 3 about him having another bout and, at worst, getting hurt. in fact adrian seems to be cured of her previously diagnosed autism by the time 4 rolls around as well
>>64301841
Drago wasn't a boxer, he was a lab freak. Also, Rocky wasn't getting any younger

Y-you guys know there was a 6th, and you're ignoring it cause it was so bad
R-right guys
Is this part of the Rocky Cinematic Universe or the Raging Bull Cinematic Universe? Can it be both?
>>64302089
Rocky 6 is Rocky Balboa dude, the really bad one is 5
>>64302089
Oh shit, didn't even see it in the list
I didn't even know there was a 6th one until recently
>>64302164
Balboa was by far the worst for me
It was such an embarrassing way to milk the franchise
I'm glad they redeemed it with creed
>>64296236
Because it failed in all the ways that Rocky 6 worked.
>>64302246
And what are those?
>>64302168
6 is what made Rocky Balboa and Creed possible. If they had ended with 5 neither of those would have happened.
>>64302036
>Dolph has lower billing than "Ludmilla", "Duke", or "Nicoli"
>>64297668
>Rocky Balboa
That movie sucked. Didn't see Creed.
>>64299650
You're right desu.
>>64299827
That's funny shit
Americans love criminals selling shit too them
Tom Brady got a record amount of endorsement offers after all that Ballgazhi shit came too light
