It's almost like there isn't this trope that involves a person or a group of people looking super badass and fucking awesome as shit, and then royally bumbling around. It's almost like movies haven't been doing this forever. It's almost like they're not building up the hardcore amazing shots so the pratfall gags are even more funny. It's almost like you're not even aware how you're being manipulated.

>almost
>>
>>64266948

Like it might have been a decent movie but you just have some random terrible looking women. I mean fuck your main ghostbuster looks to be the girl from Tammy.

>They did, it was called Spy, and was pretty funny

Women freeing themselves from a literal rape prison.

Yeah it's basically sex slavery but no it's gotta be le stronk independent womyn who don't need no man except for Max and Nux saving their asses on several occasions

Don't get me wrong, that trope exists and Ghostbusters is proof of that, but Mad Max was clearly not a feminist film. Just one that treated it's females like humans trying to get out of a desperate situation, like everyone in that univerae.
>>
>>64267597

I think when reddit came up with the idea they were envisioning hot young chicks, like Emma Stone, Emma Roberts, JLaw and Kristen Stewart. Not old hags.

Are the producers aware that nobody outside of America watches SNL and knows those people? The fat one maybe because she's a meme character in comedies and maybe Kristen Wiig because of Bridesmaids. But the other two? Who the fuck are they?

to me feminisim is like all the other trends that we've had punk, goth, emo, femnism

hopefully we'll get a cute cosplay one where girls actually like being sgirly again and look fit instead of like geel men
>>
>>64267561
It wasn't a feminist film. Furiosa was a stoic character but she was realistic (within that universe). She and Max rely on each other completely for survival; they're battle hardened and there's a clear divide between those two (and Nux) and the brides who are basically useless cargo. If the brides were portrayed as badass action heroes then you could accuse the movie of being shoe horned feminist agenda shit. But they're not. Then nearly all the old women get killed. At no point does a woman beat a man in a physical fight.

Some autists here lost their shit because it was revealed before it was released that George Miller consulted an expert in sex slavery who coached the girls a bit in how they should act.
>>
>>64267163
oh god
>>
>>64268170
While I agree with you, Max taking the back seat in his own film kind of irked me at times. He never interacts with the villain, for instance. Immortan Joe shoots at him a couple times, that's it. They never speak to each other and Furiosa gets the final encounter. It goes against formula in a way I feel doesn't work as it should. Imagine a Temple of Doom remake where Willie took on Mola Ram and killed him while Indy just sits in the mine cart taking potshots at random baddies.
>>
>>64268170
fuck off femnist, the bottom line is IT IS a feminist film

film is called MAd MAx where was he?

film is called Star Wars, where was the star wars and male dominance and power?

all this feminist shit is literally making me pissed, im gonna slit some bitches throats soon
>>
>>64268369
>He never interacts with the villain, for instance.

I don't think they need to. It's not Max's fight. He's a man wandering the Wasteland hiding from his own demons and the failure to save some he promised to help. He can't deal with more guilt and so decides to lend a hand but has no personal investment and will continue to wander the wasteland.
>>
>>64266984
What they all are doing: "pose like a cool badass".
>>
>>64268427
It makes sense, story-wise. It's the deviation from formula that irks me. The hero should have a personal score to settle with the actual, physical villain of the story, instead of battling his own demons. Personal preference I guess.
>>
>>64268369
Max not killing the villain is such a weird way to gauge his role in the film.
>>
I feel bad for Kristen Wiig. She's actually a good, talented actress and she looks dead inside on all publicity shots like she knows what a terrible thing this is.

Women will have no interest in seeing this shit. I'm sure they get just as bored of the "strong women!!!1!" trope. More men will see it than women.

It's like women's sports. If you ask any women on the street if they support women's sport they'll say "yeah! They're better than the guys XD", but none of them watch it. None of them put money into it. If any of them watch sports they watch men's sports.

I would be completely fine with it if it wasn't a reboot.

Imagine a movie where the GB franchise has been a thing for almost 3 decades. Imagine a world with almost no ghost. A world where they had to expand and hunt down other things (were, vamps, monsters, etc.) We meet the crew of a GB office, they're not that good at it, they're about to close down. Then something something happens and they are the only ones left to stop a mad(wo)man who wants to bring back magical shit into the world. A bad guy who was able to put the current GB (not the originals, but the other, better, richer, more equiped offices) all out of commision because they got lazy. The crew don't think they can pull it off and go look for guidance from the originals.

Or something.

Furiosa frees people from a patriarchal rape factory. The warrior dudes, the evil chrome guys, are supposed to represent extreme male culture. The women were being used as nurses or for sex and nothing else. It doesn't matter whether the lead of the movie was Max or Furiosa. The entire movie is set up as feminist and Max & Furiosa try to destroy the gender roles by freeing those people.

Some of the posters here are dumber than the feminists they are trying to fight.

FFS this shit has been a marketing fad since the early 90's. It's been 25 fucking years and they still act as though this is a bold new idea. he/she meant socially, the busters are pretty good at what they did, but they where never about being cool and having an attitude. That woman in spy is competent in her job but doesn't believe it at first. That was her whole arc, accepting you are not a looker and still be a damn fine professional and having confidence in that.

So is this just a remake of the original but with ugly unfunny women?

They say it because it's about women who escape from a rape prison. Which is dumb because anyone would try to escape from a rape prison, not only feminists. With that logic every movie where a woman tries to do something is feminist.

>Tonally, the movie will be a bit scarier and more hi-tech than the original and the set pieces will be bigger, while still being very funny. For example, I want in the third act to have the entire police force and army accompany the Ghostbusters to the final battle but since our villain only wants to deal with the Ghostbusters and wants to make the government look ridiculous, he possesses the entire police and army forces and makes them do a big ridiculous dance number in the middle of Fifth Avenue, thus neutralizing them (and delighting himself).

>I think that having our main villain be both evil and funny in the ways screws with our world as he’s trying to carry out the points of his manifesto (get revenge on everyone who slighted him, humiliate and take down Wall Street, make the United States look ridiculous to the rest of the world and eventually destroy NYC, which to him is the brain of the US), as well as have fun with the ghosts he picks to carry out various tasks (could be all dead villains and famous criminals he recruits from the ghost world and – in what I think could be a billion dollar idea – recruits the ghosts of evil beings from other parts of the universe – yes, ghost aliens! “Our world isn’t the only place in the universe with bad and dangerous beings that have died, you know. There’s a lot of bored dead monsters out there who are just looking for something to do.

More precisely, three nerds expelled from academia and a hardworking, blue collar everyday man. And that's why the first half of the first movie is so great. They start a business, fucking bureaucrats fuck things up, heroes save the day.

Incidentally the second movie was already cuckoldry propaganda.

I think all they had to do was just have them to old to continue being ghost busters, they do the simple jobs nothing to strenuous just small ghosts. Mention that Igon is gone or just never show him have Stanz say they are not getting any younger and need fresh blood. Have these women somehow be the ones they pick and there you go.

Why did it have to be a remake. Making it a remake, an all female cast, and having the original cast as shit like a cab driver annoyed fans.
>>
>>64266948
because they aren't
>>
>>64268702
That's the point. To just be fun characters, not sex appeal. None of the original Ghostbusters had sex appeal (you can argue maybe Bill Murray did, but to me Bill Murray never screamed handsome leading role) they were just fun goofy characters. The idea is to see these women as fun characters, not sexy.

If it Bombs, they will blame the Patriarchy.

Hopefully the studio gets less retarded, and makes a movie with a mixed cast (2 males, 2 females, or maybe even 3 males 1 female).

I am not opposed to female Ghostbusters, but turning the entire cast into females isn't really healing the rift, it's just changing the sides of who gets screwed over.

When it bombs, they will learn.

She was a great character in the original. Tolerated the boys' dopey antics for the paycheck and gave zero fucks about the madness unfolding around her. They made her too wacky in 2 but she was still fun.

Hemsworth will basically get the job because the chicks hit a gusher when he comes in for the interview and will then become the butt of jokes because they realize dumb as a bag of hammers.

In her defense though, its not like she asked to be Typecast. She was really goddamn good in Spy, and The Heat was probably my favorite performance from her because they actually gave her a decent character to work with.
I'm fairly certain she'll be the Venkman of the group, and if that's the case, she'll get more respectable roles in no time.

Thats why Im not as anally assaulted as the rest of /tv/, because Im not against a different take on a source material.

Not that anon but that sounds like an incredibly boring preference. Not trying to shit on you here but why would you want to see the same shit in every movie like that. Part of the reason I like MM films is because their strictly about survival not personal vendettas (except maybe Beyond Thunderdome) and thats incredibly apparent in Fury Road. Both Furiosa and Max use each other to survive and build up trust throughout the film
