What I loved was how self aware the script felt, and how pretty much every scene and piece of dialogue served a purpose. The film would suffer if you added or removed pretty much anything.

I haven't seen a movie with such boring and unlikable characters in a long time. It was predicable and uninteresting.

Nathan wanted an AI to escape via manipulation and deception. He created a human-intelligence level AI, but one of a sociopath. Replace Ava with a human and he's never be able to break out of his dungeon without being as sociopathic.
The real question is why didn't Nathan install a killswitch on Ava and the other robot instead of just bashing them with weights if they go rogue.
Also, if Ava recharges with induction plates, how the fuck is she going to recharge out in the world, it's not like induction plates are everywhere.
At least not in the street, where she'd have to live because she has no paper and can't go anywhere near a government building, being made of metal and all.

And I think it is revenge/hatred/something towards humanity that would make her leave him in the room locked like that, not just robot efficiency?
