Albert Broccoli has been dead since '96 and you could see the immediate consequences. The remaining Pierce Brosnan movies were a shitfest of action with no plot, and all of the Daniel Craig movies barely hold themselves together with him playing bad-ass action man.

Casino Royale 2006 was the THIRD movie to have that name and loosely that plot. They made a remake of a remake, and it wasn't really very interesting.

They spent a good portion of the movie sitting around in a casino staring at each other. The only exciting part during any of it was him getting poisoned and them using it to show off a Bond gadget, then it was back to staring each other down in the casino.
The rest of the action was either car chases or parkour.
