>>64188836
The story of AC is fucking shit anyways.

If they only adapt the style/design and premise it could make for a good movie.
>>
If it's anything like AC1, then it MIGHT be good. Anything post AC2 is terrible story wise except Black Flag, but that had so little do with the overall AC story anyway.
>>
>>64188941
AC1 and 2 were GREAT when it had the suspense and mystery to it.

once they came with the gods of a higher civilisation bullshit it lost all this mysterious charm.

i remember the goosebumps of the AC1 and 2 riddles up until today.

>AC1 and 2 were GREAT when it had the suspense and mystery to it.
>>
>>64189015
The story was never great.
Servicable, at best.

Abstergo is such a shit idea. Even the pieces of Eden feel out of place, especially in AC1.

All they need for this to be a fun movie franchise is revionist history with Assassins and Templars duking it out behind the scenes of big historical events. That's fun and engaging enough in itself. No techno-memory-travel, no triple agents, no magic artifacts, no Gods.
>>
>>64189024
>“That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories.”
>>
>>64189154
Does anybody ever gave a shit about the timetravel part? It's all about the badass costumes and historical backgorund. Just have a Secret Orders Fighting For Power Thorought The Ages Franchise and they should be golden for years to come.
Fucking James Bond does this shit in the span of 40 years and they, apparently, haven't got rid of all the ideas yet.

Shaun was entertaining and had a solid character behind "cynical birit" though, he's the only reason I even bothered with the "real world" segments.
>>
>>64189341
My point was that they should drop the whole hightec angle and just make historical epics senpai.
No use being a hothead about it.
>>
>>64189015
No, AC1 is the only one with a story to speak of. AC2 is when it went downhill, and people only hold the story in a good light because the gameplay was a huge improvement
>IMMA ITALLIAN, SPUGHATTI
>IMMA VILLAIN, EEEVUHL

AC1 actually had decent, sympathetic villains, a genuinely interesting main character fighting his dogma slowly over the course of the story.
Ezio is never in true doubt of his cause, he's never really wrong in what he's doing, even if he has to revise his methods. The villains are all 2d greed machines and none of them are even shown as competent.
It's interesting that AC4 actually had a bit of the ambiguity and character development that AC1 had. the execution was no where near as good though. That leads me to believe that they know where they're fucking up, but somehow decide to fuck up anyways. perhaps it's a matter of effort, or marketing statistics.

why aren't they ever adapting games that are actually known for the elements that also make a movie strong? soul reaver or PS:T had a better narrative than any movie or film in the decade of release
>>
>>64188962
Ubisoft could have made a good film but from the still of productions alone I can tell it's going to be cheap garbage
>>
>>64189507
Seems to me that anon agrees, though.
>>
>>64189516
I agree, AC 3 had that ambiguity too
Altair>Connor>Ezio
Haven't played the games after that
>>
>>64189516
The most interesting stuff going on in AC1are the landscapes and the horse travels. The sub-missions inside the towns are actually cool too
>>
>>64189620
AC3 had the ambiguity, but the hero never acted on that ambiguity. Altair is all "oh shit, I've been told all this, but they are saying other stuff" leading to a finale against his own cult master.
indian guy is like "oh shit, I've been told all this, but they're saying all this, better totally disregard it and keep walking the straight path towards my vengeance"
>>
>>64189620
AC3 didn't have any ambiguity. They may have tried including it but they just made every major character an asshole. Kenway's the only one who isn't completely retarded and actually considers what's happening around him, adjusts, doubts.

>>
>>64189654
My favorite part was the villain speeches. They've unfortunately been significantly shortened in the future installments(presumably because they were unrealistic according to critics, but then, the new ones aren't so short they're realistic). They actually did a great deal to humanise the villains. I don't remember a single motive in ac2, I remember most in ac1.
Also, some of the dramatic scenes were cool. A bit edgy, but when the asylum owner broke that one guys legs it had a bit of impact, not because he broke some legs, but because of the setting and delivery.
>>
>>64189620
Altair was just a hired, cold assassin, and that's part of the appeal. Ezio was dumb, romantic and adventurous, but it was also cool. The adult and old Ezio was meh, the storyline got too over the top as well

Connor was trash
>>
>>64189829
Altair wasn't hired, Ezio was a gary stu, why do you consider Connor to be trash?
>>
>>64189772
SJW/10
>>
>>64189829
>altair was just a hired, cold assassin
If you totally disregard reality, sure.
I mean, for one, he wasn't hired, he is more than any of the other characters intrinsically raised and indoctrinated into the assassins order. There's a ton of subtext about his growth as a character as well, it's pretty hard to argue that he has the most depth of any AC character. to call him a cold, hired assassin means that 1. You don't remember the game very well and 2. when you did play the game, you didn't read enough into it.
>>

Combat is worse than it's ever been.
Story and characters seem very rushed.
Grappling gun ruins the free running aspect.

It looks kinda pretty and the setting is cool, though.

>those based altair sequences
>>
>>64189772
The villain literally twirls his evil moustache.
The final fight is dodging lasers and mercilessly beating his face with 2 persons for 10 solid minutes.

It's like the franchise has been taken over by a 16 year old. It's hilarious.
You run into Charles Dickens (for the first time), scatter all his writing, and he goes "ay meet me in the pub for drinks and friendship, best friend".
Darwin's favorite way to pass the time is sabotaging factories. It's all so weird.

>Darwin's favorite way to pass the time is sabotaging factories
kek.
>>
>That cliffhanger in AC1
tfw you were there, and you had to wait all that time to find out what happened next.

Then it all went down hill. If Brotherhood was better than AC2 then it was the only game to be better than the previous one. Fucking Ubisoft literally copies and pastes most of the game, even Far Cry 3 seemed like just an alternate skin.
>>
>>64190093
what about marx?

Why hasn't anyone adapted Planescape Torment?
It is literally a free pass to totally rip off Memento in a fantasy setting. It even has the tattoos and everything. And PS:T preceeded Memento so it's alright.

I just cant buy a native playing a secret organization Assassin, way too over the top

The storyline in the game was already going to shit and that was merely the nail in the coffin for me. Still, there's more than enough material in AC-AC2 to make many good films.

Why did anon expect marx to do anything wrong? Marx legitimately did nothing wrong.
>>64190333
And I'm saying you're wrong. There was more nuance to altair than any of the other characters. That he doesn't over express himself like some kinda cultural stereotype doesn't mean he didn't make for a character in his own right. You should replay the game and actually look for it, altairs character is easily the best part.

I'll take a look in the wiki. I say that I don't remember any nuances of his because he looked almost always robotic and cold, like the stereotypical autistic serial killer, even Connor as shit as he was had plenty of character to him and we got to know about him and the psychology behind the character in depth, even his childhood traumas and all of that. A way more fleshed out character than Altair was in AC1.

I'm not saying he wasn't great, he was the best character and AC's storyline is GOAT.

He'd be so disappointed if he knew what marxism seems to mean to people today.
It's not communism, or a way to stealthily forcing change, it's just his observations of how society changes over time. He advocated capitalism for the time being, and knew that slowly socialism would creep due to factors like technology advancing.
