How the fuck does this look so good? I've never seen a shot so beautiful it's almost unreal
>>64179980
Too bad it's a boring movie.
Yes it's boring faggots, fuck you. I wish I could get into it cause it's so beautiful but it's boring as fuck.
>>64180045
If you were a real patrician you would watch it for the cinematography and production design. Maybe try taking some ritalin first.
>>64181929
This, I just marathoned it the other day
>>64182221
>Marathon
>A single film
It's called "watching" or "seeing"
>>64182321
I usually spread a single movie over the course of 1 or 2 weeks. Do europeans really marathon films regularly
>>64182583
this is my favorite new kek for 2016
>>64182583
how do you get so next level with your memes
teach me
>>64180045
I don't understand this board any more. Just how many levels of irony deep are we? Inception should have been a film about /tv/.
>>64180045
Dude weed lmao
>>64182583
>he doesn't watch a scene of a film everyday, deconstruct it and write a 100 word essay on the mis-en-scene
>>64183419
>implying I don't
>>64179980
Ridley Scott has always been a hell of a cinematographer. He sucks at storytelling though...
>>64182583
>he doesn't watch movies in 0.04166666666666666666666666666667 speed frame by frame.
Star Wars hype is over, son. Go back to reddit.
>>64180045
Even though this is bait, I have heard people in real (not fake) life say this.
>>64183594
Fun fact. Jordan Crenenweth, the DP of Blade Runner, has a son named Jeff Cronenweth who has been the DP on basically all of Fincher's films.
>>64183419
who is this baby batter barista?
>>64183660
That was fun!
Thank you.
>>64183660
I was about to say the only other director I've seen achieve this type of look is Fincher. Interesting
>>64183691
kek'd. I bet you liked that senpai
>>64183701
It is, really. A shame Jordan died quite young, Blade Runner is of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, up there with The Red Desert. Fincher's have an incredibly sterile look, which is largely thanks to Jeff.
>>64183667
One of the five wives in Mad Max
>>64179980
If you love great cinematic photography and mist-covered country landscapes check out Ridley Scott's directorial debut The Duellists too. It's like he went out with the intention of making every scene look like he'd copied it from some old painting of the period. The story and acting aren't bad either.
>>64183810
Downloading this right now, funnily enough. Can't believe I haven't seen it yet. Alien and Blade Runner are masterworks. Scott is like Coppola, 3 masterpieces (Coppola had 2 Godfathers, Apoc Now and The Conversation) and coasted the rest of their careers, though to be fair Scott has consistently made great films over the years, just nothing that touches on Alien and Blade Runner.
>>64183810
how does it compare to Barry Lyndon?
>>64183810
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChuhXe0G5lY
Why isn't this the meme movie of the year?
>>64183875
It's Scott's first movie as director and in parts that can show through with a little clunkiness in the way the plot progresses. Beautiful cinematography though, and Sutherland and Keitel are fucking fantastic as the two French officers who continue their feud throughout the Napoleonic War.
>>64183871
Have you seen this?

>>64183947

this is why I want this >>64183928
to happen
>>64179980
Didn't the actor make half that shit up on the spot
>>64183767
Fincher can't shoot digital. His movies look like a steaming pile of shit.
>>64183947
>>64183974
Bah, me means Keith Carradine, not Donald Sutherland. Fuck that flaxen blonde 70s hairstyle - I always mix the pair of them up.
>>64183968
wow, the Tartovsky influence is definitely apparent
>>64184020
Fincher's films are gorgeous what the fuck are you talking about
>>64183984
Yes. He had an outline of what to say, but he paraphrased
>>64180045
I weep for you.
>>64181929
>>64183362
>>64183647
>>64184296
Jesus some people just can't marathon a film like that, what's so hard to understand?
>>64184093
Imagine if they still did stuff like this instead of just shoving half an hour of advertisements down your throat before a movie.
>>64183984
He made it up, but not on the spot.
>>64184377
Those people are weak. I've marathoned as many as two films in one week.
>>64184389
The actor marathoned it.
>>64183362
true...
makes me chuckle
this place does't even know what's u[ pr down anymore
tvception
>>64184377
>can't marathon a film
what's this mean?
>>64184489
The whole monologue? That must've been at least 5 lines
>>64184638
>u[ pr down
up or down
The only seen I think looks stupid is where he's fucking around with that picture. It looks stupid and makes no sense. Not even a futuristic setting makes that scene work.
>just marathoned The Force Awakens
Fookin hell lads, that was a long movie
>>64184737
Yeah I just marathoned it with my wife's son and we didn't really enjoy it. True auteurs like Tarantino understand that films require at least one intermission so you can fully take it all in. I really hope he gets the ball rolling on bringing back that trend to modern cinema
>>64184721
It's cyber punk, it was necessary.
>>64184815
Yeah, I don't mind marathoning movies when they're shown in chunks
>>64184877
I get it, I just don't like it.
>>64183419
>he only writes 100 words
>>64184912
You know I just watched that scene again and I feel like it does at least make sense. It's a future devised in the 80s so the technology looks wrong (crt screens and photos you can hold in your hand) but it's a 3D image which is why he was messing around with it at such length.
>>64185177
You know what, anon? I think you're right. It's the 80's vision of future tech that takes me out of it. You're perceptive.
>>64180045
I'm sorry.
>>64180045
The first half is perfect but I'll admit the second half has pacing issues and I skip certain scenes.
Anything with Sebastian or Priss in it is boring as all hell.
>>64183419
>100 word essay
That's a paragraph m8.
>>64183419
how bad with numbers are you that you think 100 words is an essay? don't answer that

Reddit pls

> Shot on film
> Color timed on film
> Not degraded down to a 2K scan for crayola digital color grading
Pretty simple really.
I realize this thread is now for memeing, but I must say how ridiculous it is that this movie's visuals have aged like a fine wine while 99% of other sci-fi films look like trash within a decade.
>>64186120
>>64186170

>>64183594
> Ridley Scott has literally never been a cinematographer
I can't tell what's b8 anymore.
>>64183660
Jordan Cronenweth got fired from Alien 3.
That's not a fun fact at all.
>>64186254
That's what happens when you have a director who has professional standards for his productions.
Shame he doesn't give two fucks about the scripts.
>>64184721
Guess you've never actually read a Philip k dick book then, because it fits something he'd write
And why shouldn't technology replicate a room going by enough data on a photograph? Photoshop can replicate and assume data quite decently for our level of technology
>>64186431
I actually bought the book and my dog ate it. Real true story.
I still think that scene is dumb.
>>64186242
You can get really good looking shots with digital equipment too. Like in the Revenant
There are 4 major factors into why the shot looks so good here OP:
1) Shot on film
2) Anamorphic lens
3) Extremely well-done lighting
4) Effects (Rain, blood, sweat, etc)
>>64179980
what makes a shot look good?
The lighting in Blade Runner is excellent , all that neon hanging off the skyscrapers , apparently theres a black and white version
I hate the scene where Rachel unties her hair to fuck Deckard and she suddenly has this eighties ultra-volume perm
The visuals in the movie are so great, you could easily believe it was filmed in the future, and then boom, they punch you in the face with this
