What the fuck is it about Japan? Why is it so intoxicating?
It's impossible to visit Japan without becoming a little bit of a weeaboo.

>Be a decent weab, but no urge to visit japan. I get everything I need from them over the internet
>End up going to japan for an unrelated reason
>Oh god it's beautiful
>Immediately start planning how to fund another trip
I'm convinced it's a combination of Japanese people being very aesthetically conscious, and their former isolation during the industrial revolution leading to a very different modernity.

On topic though, that's probably my favourite shot in ANH. Abrams really missed the mark on the visual style of the original films.

Geofag here.

It's because the island of Japan is one of the most unique environments on this planet. They have insanely dynamic coastlines, montane forests with ecotomes (microenvironments) like a motherfucker. Not to mention the fact that the entire island is geologically new as hell, from a volcanic sense.

It's actually a 6 century old church, and a lot of the buildings aren't much younger. The only notable exception being the college that you can see the roof of, which is currently being renovated.

No biggie, as all I do is watch movies all day and not look out the window anyway.

Any cinematography nerds that can explain the difference between 'good looking' movies like Transformers, TFA etc and movies with actual GOAT cinematography? I know there's a tangible difference but it's hard to explain, and I'm relatively pleb when it comes to cinematography.

By 'good looking' I meant that people say that they are well shot, when really they mean that they don't look like a Sci-Fi TV movie, and by no means are they shot well in any regard.
