>>64114342

The amount of investment he put into the prequels is why CGI is as good as it is at the moment

>>64114386
>Gandalf: "Legolas Greenleaf!"
Please bookfags for the love of God tell me that isn't his actual last name.
>>64114342
>waiting for CGI
Or, you know, just direct a movie well and use what you have in a good way. Greenscreen is fairly simple to do, what you're looking at is Jedis swinging their swords at nothing with no emotion. Then you have this mentality that if you can recreate something with CG, that means you can really do anything and pretend the gungan battle is just like a battle with real soldiers.
You can make Star Wars with minimal CGI if you want and still have a great movie. No one is interested in that though.

that would be really good movie to watch if you're high. 10/10 comedy.
>>64114893
>armchair diplomats
they're Jedi grand masters.
>>64114342
No. The problem wasn't the special effects it was how they were used, and what they were in service of. The clone troopers, for instance. I get that you need CGI to convincingly make it look like there are millions of these assholes running around, but is there any reason not to have a few sets of clone armor to slap on 20 guys all the same height and build, for any shot where you don't need to see millions of them?
Look at lord of the rings, it's doing basically the same thing digitally cloning elements to fill out an army, or using CGI extras for wide shots, and plenty of them aged like milk (Gandalf's charge on helms deep) BUT its a quick scene, and you might not even notice it because whats more important is whats happening in the movie.
Since no one makes you care about a bunch of jedi on the geonosis level of a video game, or the goonga invasion, you don't have much else to do but watch an notice all the faults.
