Visceral as fuck.

Tom Hardy gives a phenomenal performance.

>squirrel god

Movie is a metaphor for Leo trying to get his Oscar.
>>
>that last shot of him breaking the 4th wall, pleading the Academy to finally give him a statue
Poor Leo
>>
Bear fight is the best special effect feat I've seen since Terminator 2. Last showdown also has choreographic perfection. You might call Revenant visceral, but I'd rather it'd be called organic, because the clear emphasis is on how everything flows, about patterns of movement in nature, be it blood or mist. When Hardy's character blows his pipe overlooking a river, when camera lens catches a Sun's flare or gets hazy from exhalation, when the earth stirs, fire cracks, snow melts or wave twirls, the rhythm is impeccable.
>>
I thought it would be far more visceral than it actually was. It was never really suspenseful, just dark.

>tfw wanted to watch this today with my bros but no theater in Houston is showing it

>Movie is a metaphor for Leo trying to get his Oscar.
Oh shit I see it now, it's just like how Birdman was an attempt for Michael Keaton to win an Oscar.
>>
>>64092996
God see the movie your father wants and have a good time with him. Watch the Revenant tomorrow alone.
>>
>>64093117
That's what I'm gonna do, but damn is it hard to see an Adam Sandler movie every time one comes out.

I loved the movie. I have seen the screener twice and can't wait to see it in theaters.
It's not that deep and the floating ghost wife looks like it was leftovers from crimson peak. Outside of that it was 2 hours and 30 minutes that just flies by for me.
>>
I thought this shit ruled my only problem was that i feel like leo would have frozen fifty times over due to him leaping in bodies of water at every given opportunity
>>
film was too long
leo didnt speak much
plot was boring
dragged way too much
Bear fight was cool

if i wasnt a lonely neet id be pretty pissed i paid for it
>>
>>64092389
Probably going to try and watch it in a theater not mediocre DVD rip.
>>
>>64094381
They did not do their homework there were like 10 times in this movie where DiCaprio would have been completely and totally fucked
>>
>>64094381
yeah I'm from Northern Ontario and I was cold just watching this
>>
>Leo will never win an Oscar in your lifetime
>>
>>64092654

I felt the major action scenes were suspenseful
>>
>>64093257
The floating wife thing was already done by Malick who copied it from Tarkovsky
>>
Why couldn't Glass let bygones be bygones? It's too cold for revenge atleast wait for summer.
>>
>>64095538

Revenge is best served cold
>>
>>64092389

does Inarritu have anything to say? why does he even make movies? he seems like he has the intelligence of a bro.
>>
Literally Malick for plebs
>>
>>64092695
What is leaked torrent everywhere.
>>
>>64094381
Yeah he would have had hyperthermia within 10 minutes of floating in the river.
>>
>>64095839
There were tons of ludicrous solutions to various situations. When you prop up a corpse on a horse it's unlikely it will fall off when a musket ball hits it.

And bodies don't tend to act like they were hit by a truck once some gunpowder splashes them.
>>
someone please give me link to torrent or stream this faggot ass movie

is this a meme?
like fair enough Hardy is pretty good, but i think Leo's performance is just as good if not superior
>>
>>64096030
go play with the new toys you got for christmas kid
>>
>>64092389
currently watching right now and its a pretty good movie.

Im at the part where tom hardy and the boy get back to the village to collect their pay.

The bear attack was brutal as fuck and very realistic.

I was trying to figure out if that was a cgi bear or animatronic perhaps.
>>
>>64095928

If you had anything to nitpick, it would be the chances of avoiding hypothermia or death from the environment he was subjected to endlessly.
>>
>>64096661
They actually got a top taxidermist to mask a motorized robot with the skin of a real bear
Leo went full method for this role lived with a tribe for months and learned the ways of their people to kill grizzlies
>>
>>64096735
the
"your body is rotting. Your wounds have to heal. You could die" bit was not only pottery but also explained that the dude wasn't doing so good
>>
>>64096735
That too. There was some dissonance in tone in that they took his will to survive and turned it into deus ex machina; the amount of will cannot be gouged properly and therefore protagonist can always pull a bit more, a bit more, scrape by by a yard, by an inch etc. Purpose of the journey was to showcase director's skill and it was quite enjoyable to me.
>>
>>64096773
So they basically pulled a jurassic park to make the bear scene look so real?

Im surprsieed he killed it with a fucking knife considering how think a bears skin is suppose to be.
Although it looked like he stabbed it in the same spot where he shot it, but damn was he fucked up
>>
>>64096661
>brutal as fuck and very realistic

Ah, 4chan. Where a hoard of autistic teenagers who've never left the house will line up to tell you how "real" a bear attack depiction was.

Ah 4chan. Where people will claim to be experts on bear attacks.
>>
>>64096974

>falls of a cliff with non fully healed wounds
>has to get inside a dead horses corpse to hide from a blizzard with already rotting and infected wounds

The only thing thats bugging me is that he should probably be half dead just from infection alone
>>
>>64097339
you guys know this is a true story right
>>
>>64097442
yeah thats whay throws me off so much.

Like his wounds should be seriously infected.
>>
>>64097442
It's a true story but only in the loosest sense. Like he was attacked in August, not the middle of the winter, and as far as I can tell he didn't have a son (wasn't mentioned in his wiki page).

I'm pretty confident that huge portions of the movie are totally fabricated. You wouldn't be able to survive a river in the middle of winter without a change of clothes at the very least, and you would almost definitely not be able to walk away from a 50+ foot fall if you even managed to survive.
>>
>>64097589
I agree with most of your points, but the 50 foot fall was into water. That is easily survivable.
>>
>>64097646
he rides his horse off a cliff and lands on solid ground, I think you're thinking of him going over a waterfall?
>>
>>64097734
>and lands on solid ground
But he landed in a tree
>>
>>64097734
oh I forgot about that. yeah I think they were trying to play it off as if falling through the tree broke his fall, but even then that would fuck you up and reopen all his wounds for sure.
>>
>>64097339
see >>64096865
Like when the native guy who was eating raw meat tells him he's rotting and ''could die'', he means he's already half dead
>>
>>64092389
Just finished the film, and i give it an 8/10

Its long, but i never lost interest thru out the whole film which tends to happen with long movies like this.
>>
>>64096773
Poor Leo.
He will probably lose. Might even not get nominated
>>
>>64098669
>raped by a bear
>no oscar
>sadfrog

this movie is just revengeporn
