Does it make you happy that there are kids right now awaking to a big box with a puppy or a kitty in it?
What a moment.

No because people who gift animals for christmas are retarded.
>giving someone a responsibility for Christmas
Seems kind of fucked up, unless it's like a rite-of-passage thing or something.
>>64078030
>No because people who gift animals for christmas are retarded.
Why?
>>64078008
Literally animal torture
>>64078008
I immediately equate that to the Not just for Christmas meme and assume they'll be neglected or abandoned then I remembered there are still wealthy white families in the world who will give their pets good lives.
>>64078008
I can't wait for the day that our reptilian overlords take charge and we become their slaves and they put us in their reptilian Christmas socks and gift us to their little freak offspring.
>those kids that get ugly dogs and their parents say "isn't he cute?" when he's really not
>>64078008
if they already have other dogs and know what they are dealing with, i dont give a fuck
It does, but that's only cause I'm not a joyless human being.
this is great
so many feels
>>64078062
Think about everything that can possibly go wrong when giving someone a pet, then think about how many of those things mean the pet won't live there any more, where does it go after that?
The pound where it will likely be put down.
http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/shelters-set-for-surge-in-abandoned-dogs-after-christmas-34313899.html
This shit happens every fucking year and it's disgusting.
How is this not entrapment?
White people are the best people.
I hope these white families have fun with their dogs.
:3
>>64078062
Because animals are a responsibility and children have none.
>>64078545
It's the parents who bare the responsibility.
>>64078561
Well the parents are fucking stupid cunts because puppies keep getting put to sleep because of them.
>>64078008

>every day when the kids come home from school, they each get a present
THAT'S NOT HOW CHRISTMAS WORKS.
>>64078049
Kids love puppies and it teaches them how to treat others with kindess.
>>64078030
You're a fucking retard. Giving a (responsible) kid something they want is retarded?
>>64078066
I love these edgy responses that have only come up with the rise of shit like reddit and tumblr where its cool to be contrary.
How is finding an animal a loving home torture?
>>64078469
So why don't you just say that getting ANYONE a pet is retarded? How are any of your points more valid for these Christmas pets than pets given at any other time of the year? How is getting someone a pet on specifically Christmas more retarded then people getting pets any other time of the year?
>>64078601
>How is finding an animal a loving home torture?
He probably means trapping an animal in a box.
>>64078601
>How are any of your points more valid for these Christmas pets than pets given at any other time of the year
Shelters only have space for so many pets, a single time of year where they have a resurgence AFTER gifts have been given means more dogs will need to be put down and faster.
Very few people will be looking for dogs to adopt after Christmas so a small minority of these dogs will avoid being put down.
These people are all so good at picking up dogs.
I'd just rotate the box and tip it onto the floor.
>>64078686
So you are arguing that abandoning pets is immoral and wrong.
I can agree with that.
What I don't agree with is this edgy assumption that getting a child a pet for Christmas is somehow immoral in and of itself.
Shitty people getting a shitty child a pet with no intention of helping the child and being okay with abandoning it is shitty, I agree.
But again, how does that relate specifically to Christmas?
Shitty people are shitty.
>>64078820
No one gets an animal as a gift and thinks whoever is receiving it won't be able to take care of it or won't want it.
Humans don't know what's best and people can give inappropriate gifts, an animal is a responsibility and the nature of gift giving is that it's a surprise.
Those things mix into a shitty situation for shelters and unlucky pets.
>But again, how does that relate specifically to Christmas?
Because a sudden influx of animals in the span of a few days is worse for the animals than anyone else.

Convienantly ignore the article that I posted from 2015 that was posted 12 hours ago you fucking idiot.
>>64078469
multiple articles talking about the same problem a decade apart solidifies my point further that it's a problem with the tradition.
