Is this the biggest forced meme of our lifetime?
>>64063570
No, the biggest forced meme was pretending that your mother lived you.
>>64063602
She never pretended that she didn't love me ;_;
>>64063570
>our lifetime?
Speak for yourself boomer
>>64063570
Fuck you OP.
That scene where the kid is so happy when his dad got him the gun was one of the best scenes in cinema history.
"you'll shoot your eye out" is overdone though
>>64063570
cucks will defend this movie til their dying breath so don't even bother my man
Peanuts.
The most unfunny, boring, sleep-inducing thing ever made.
The biggest forced meme is family members pretending to care about each other because of a holiday. It's a false sense of belonging.
>>64063810
Is this you?
>>64063788
>life insurance
>boring
Pick one and only one.
>>64063750
The dad is a million times happier. He's a background character for the entire movie, then out of nowhere, makes his son's Christmas wish come true. And he saves dinner.
>then the credits roll and the fucking mom is billed first
>>64063788
Literally kill yourself you little school shooter psychotic piece of shit.
>>64063858
>>64063881
>you insulted my meme, prepare to DIE!! HUAAAAUGGGH!!!
>>64063836
Is that guy's fly undone?
>>64063788
>he can't appreciate Peanuts
Underage detected, back to Facebook with you.

>>64063836
Are you implying there aren't plenty of assholes who don't murder people simply because of the consequences?
>>64063902
Hope you bought some life insurance right now...
>>64063902
Proven for malignant youth right here.
Ahaha, it's a cliiiiiiinkeeeerrrrr.

>bluh urf pluur you see it's social commentary on the duuuhrh
A Christmas Story and The Princess Bride are two movies that I knew were reddit even as a child, I just didn't have the word to articulate it at that point.
Jingle all the way is the millennial's "a christmas story"
if you don't like either, consider suicide
>>64063570
That's not The Goonies
>>64063788
The new one was good.
>>64063978
and a merry christmas to you too
"A Christmas Story" is one of those pieces of cultural ephemera that you either "get" or you don't.
At this point, I think its relative merits are totally unimportant. It has transcended its role as a motion picture and become a kind of ritual for middle class Americans: something they dutifully watch around the holidays and quote ad nauseum.
My family had a similar fascination with "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", only we watched it around Thanksgiving. If you asked me how good it was, I honestly couldn't tell you. It is by now so intermingled with warm memories of family gatherings that I can't separate the two.
"A Christmas Story" is beyond criticism, and it should be seen for what it is: a decoration (much like a wreath) adorning the TV during Christmastime.
>>64063965
>The Princess Bride
Pick both desu. Inigo Montoya was the only good thing about that movie.
Why were the kids in class until Christmas Eve? Did they not have Christmas vacation back then?
>>64063788
>mfw Peanuts movie
>>64063858
What is this life insurance thing.
Did I miss something? I was never a big peanuts fan.
Am I fated to die a horrible death?
>>64063965
Calling something Reddit is not exactly proper articulation.

I wish.
>>64063810
That's not a forced meme, that's just life.
Personally, I'd rather have someone fake caring than to openly dislike you.
>>64063788
Read up on Charles Schultz and Peanuts. It actually deals with some very dark themes....Charlie Brown's life is depressing....snoopy exists to highlight imagination and escapism. Linus and Lucy represent different sides of reality.
A Christmas Story is excellent family-friendly storytelling, for an imperfect post-Rockwell America that only looks so good in hindsight.
It is excellent. Jean Shepherd is a wonderful storyteller.
Pic related....it's my snoopy
>>64064639
>it's not shit, it's deep!
>>64064660
The only shit thing ITT is you and your opinions.
>>64064694
>X represent something that isn't shitty and boring
deep... man.... *vapes*

>Admitting you vape
Into the trash...
I'm a virgin.
>>64064749
No man.... vaping actually deals with some dark themes man... Vaping is depressing... vaping exists to highlight imagination and escapism... the dank weed represent different sides of reality... man... *vapes*
I hate a christmas story simply because I was told every year that it was a "christmas classic" that I had to watch every year only to find out later that it was just a forced meme started by Ted Turner being too cheap to buy the rights to more than one movie during the hollidays.
To find out all the times I had quoted it and thought I was watching something special and a cultural phenomenon only to later realize I was simply brainwashed into spouting memes makes me cringe. There is nothing "special" about a christmas story. And the "christmas tradition" of watching it was only to keep me busy and out of my family's hair during the holidays.
honestly I look back on all the love I had for this movie and all the times I would joke about "you'll shoot your eye out" thinking I was clever because I "got" the jokes and references and feel a deep shame that I stupidly bought into a forced meme
>>64063906
find your dick for a dollar
>>64063667
This movie isn't even that old. It was made in 1983 and only got regular TV broadcasts starting in the 90s.
>>64063570
Why people like this movie when Christmas movies like Gremlins exist is beyond me. Christmas ain't no Easter or Veterans Day, there are dozens of great films, so why this mediocre movie is so entrenched in our pop culture is baffling.
I miss when they showed "It's a Wonderful Life" instead. This movie is just awful in comparison.
>>64065299
Die Hard is my go-to Christmas movie.
>>64063881
>>64063914
Not him, but I never grew up with it and I simply do not get it. I swear it's something that you have to grow up with to get, because I saw a Peanuts movie for the first time at 19 and found it painfully boring even though all my dormmates were enthralled.
>not watching the CMT 24-Hour marathon of A Christmas Story 2
>>64065339
Die Hard is a movie that takes place at Christmas, not really a "Christmas Movie". I love the movie, don't get me wrong, but I don't really consider it a Christmas Movie similar to how I don't consider Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a Christmas Movie.
>>64065344
Peanuts is the same exact level of A Christmas Story. They are practically the same mass pap garbage.
>listen jerk, when I say cum you better cum
>>64063570
>You'll meme your eye out, kid.
>>64063570
No one had really ever heard of this movie till about 10 years ago. A few years ago it was getting forced with "DUDE LEG LAMP LMAO", but has since died back down.
>>64065299
Usually try to run the whole gambit of rankin bass over the course of the season
>>64063788
>he didn't read the comics
>>64064799
It's okay if you're autistic, just admit it.
>>64065331
Anyone who prefers the sentimental bullshit 'A Wonderful Life' over this is human garbage. This is one of the most accurate portrayals of boyhood ever put to screen (if given some comic flourish), that's dreck that makes The Shawshank Redemption look fucking subtle.
>>64066856
So you prefer a movie about a stupid kid who wants a stupid toy and 'lel leg lamp' to a movie about a fallen man discovering how important he is to his small town?
Alright, senpai.
