Attack of the Clones btfo
>Phantom Menace made just over 1 billion (with the 3D re-release)
>Attack of the Clones made about 650 million
>Revenge of the Sith made about 850 million
Could The Force Awakens make more than all the prequels combined?
>>64006394
It would have to make over 2.5 billion. Maybe.
>>64006755
It made over 600 million in like 3 days. No actual competition comes out until Batman v Superman in March.
Movies cost more than it did in 2002. People are paying $20 for IMAX nowadays so of course movies make more money.
>>64006394
ANH made more money than all the prequels combined.
>>64006919
>batman v superman
>competition for anything
lol (lots of laughs)
>>64007046
Isn't it laugh out loud? Are u autistic?
Every time I turn on the news, people are talking about the box office or how many toys it's gonna sell. Nobody cares about the actual movie. It's all about the money.
>>64007083
lol (lots of love)
>piracy is killing the industry
But can it beat Titanic?
this just shows how little foreigners care about star wars
it's not going to make the 2 billion that avatar made
foreign take would have to be double what it is right now
Prequels were better desu
Inflation doesn't exist: the thread.
>>64007151
avatar made $3 billion adjusted for inflation since 2009
three
billion
>>64007151
Hasn't been released everywhere yet
this will make 1 billion domestic and become the biggest ticket seller since Titanic, nostalgia sure is strong
>>64007185
>movie that has been out for 6 days has earned almost money as a movie that was in theaters for months
>hurr its inflation
Janitors can you ban faggots like this? Isn't trolling bannable outside /b/?
>>64007185
Inflation adjusted, Attack of the Clones made $931 million
>>64007318
Inflation adjusted, ANH made between 2.4 and 2.6 billion.
>>64007231
It's been released everywhere relevant bar China, and it still only had a 53/47 overseas/domestic split, which is fucking terrible. Best-case scenario is that China pushes it up to about 60/40, but even then it'd have to do impossible number to beat Avatar.
For reference, for China to boost TFA's overseas percentage from 53 to 60, the film would have to make 33% of its current overseas gross again from China, and then keep pace with that over its box office run.
>>64007518
2.825 bill according to the wikipedia list
Avatar is just north of 3 billion

I don't give a shit about avatar. I'm saying ANH made more, on it's own, than the entire prequel trilogy, adjusted for inflation.

>this just shows how little foreigners care about star wars
This is true
Comparing opening weekends (Some foreign countries only update every week, so there isn't figures post opening weekend)
USA & Canada Population: 355 million
USA & Canada Gross: $247,966,675
Gross/Population = $0.6983

Gross/Population = $0.7919
Australia Population: 24 million
Australia Gross: $20,596,568

But then you get to non English speaking countries:
Sweden Population: 10 million
Sweden Gross: $3,945,455

France Population: 65 million
France Gross: $21,378,320

Italy Population: 60 million

Russia Population: 142 million

Netherlands is honestly the most suprising one. They speak English well and are as exposed to American media as much as Germans and Swedes.
