the problem is that it's the more OTT Sheev from the prequels Ian is playing. the more mysterious tone of the Emperor in the original version suits the scene and the movie better.
also the new dialogue pretty much gives away the Vader-Luke twist for people who don't watch the prequels, while the old dialogue doesn't even hint at it.

I prefer the original voice.
I would prefer the original chimp look if they dropped the lighting or contrast or something, so the gougy eyelids were more like highlights than obvious gougy eyelids. In fact, everything but the eyes looks great.

No, it's not better than the original. In fact, it's fucking atrocious. Actually listen to the changed dialogue, it makes absolutely no sense and portrays Vader as a legitimate retard.
In the original, Vader already knew Luke was his son and that's why he was hunting him down. Now, we're supposed to believe that in the middle of his search for this specific pilot boy who he had no known relationship to, Sheev suddenly comes in and goes "You know that kid you're looking for? By the way, he's your son."
Worse yet, Vader REJECTS the idea at first. "WHAT, THIS KID WHO SHARES THE SAME LAST NAME AS ME AND IS FORCE SENSITIVE JUST LIKE ME IS MY SON? NO WAY!" Then Palpatine tells him the exact iconic "search your feelings, you know it to be true" line he tells Luke later.
This is one of the WORST changes, but everyone ignores the bafflingly retarded dialogue and hail it as a great change because now they recognize the actor.

The extent of force ghosts should have been the voice Luke hears in ANH, and maybe the quick shot of Obi-Wan on Hoth.. so maybe you're not sure if Luke is hallucinating, or maybe the Force has some sort of ghost shit. But then just leave it at that. Maybe in the very final shot of Jedi, you have what looks like a force ghost out in the trees, and it looks to Luke and smiles, and then turns to walk away and disappears

Episode 4 was actually the only good star wars movie. It was the only one where both sides were on more or less equal moral footing; merely two different political parties so to speak. It had the best characterization, lore and acting. everything else is attrociously bad in comparison. However, the prequel trilogy was just plain garbage. Then there's TFA, standard jj hackbramism.
