Every good ensemble has a "bass player." Individually unremarkable, outshined by everyone around them, even shit on for not standing out. Take them and only them out of the equation though, and something is wrong, something is missing. A void suddenly is apparent. You didn't know what you had until it was gone.
Opie was the bass player of the bunch. He was and is the most technically skilled and the most proficient at professional radio hosting. He was also co-mastermind of the O&A style.
Ant was the drummer. A step above the bass player, more outstanding, gets more credit, leaves a big void when gone too.
This why both shows are shit. O&A only work when they are together and bring in good comics (well, comics at least) to co-host the show to quality.
