Once Kurt Russell was gone all the fun left with it. I would have preferred it had it been Jackson as the one with Daisy and Russell as the unscrupulous son of a bitch.
There was just no fun scenes to change the mood. No silly Tarantino talk where they talk about Foot Rubs or the etiquette of tipping. It was 3 hours of the characters being angry and suspicious of each other.
Only highlights was Jackson clocking Daisy in the stage coach and the broken door jokes.

Haven't seen it yet, is this Quentin's third hangout movie after Jackie Brown andDeath Proof?
It was really boring. Probably one of the worst movies he's ever made.
It took one hour and 38 minutes for a gun shot to go off. Samuel L. Jackson is just playing the generic old grumpy guy he always plays,
The only likeable character was John Ruth. I guess Walton Goggins was pretty good too. He was somewhat likeable, he had some morals compared to the rest of the boring characters. And the only other character that I actually enjoyed was Zoe Bell.
One notable thing was Joe Cage poisoning the coffee they were drinking and, I guess, Bob "The Mexican" was a pretty good character he was the only character I actually liked the most, besides Zoe Bell's character.
All they did was talk and talk and talk and Quentin Tarantino, for some reason, had a guy pleasing Samuel L. Jackson's character orally in it while he is naked. Great story development there!
And we also get a narration from Quentin twice in this movie. I personally feel like it was so he could hear his own voice. Because there is really no reason for their to be a narration in this movie. It didn't do anything for the movie and it didn't advance anything.
And the fact that one of the main selling points of this movie is that it's filmed in a high- resolution of 70mm... They are in the cabin for two hours of the movie and you get, like, a total of 10 minutes of screen time to the actual depth of the scenery.
This movie was a disappointment. I honestly don't recommend it. I found it really boring. If you've got time to kill, then watch it. Otherwise I wouldn't waste my time. Its not good and it's not fun, and it's not even enjoyable to watch.

I'm kind of surprised that a competent director like Tarantula would make a movie that relies on dialogue as heavily as this film. Judging from his previous work, he obviously has an eye for the visual language of movies which somehow eludes him in this one. It's too static familia, even the scenes which were supposed to be tense were sort of wonky and had too much dialogue.
That said, it's an enjoyable movie.

Well Tarantino sought out to make a tribute to the old Western episode where there were a bunch of a bad looking guys in a room and you couldn't tell who was telling the truth. He succeeded in doing this but we end up with a very joyless film where the would be hero doesn't become a hero until the very end.
Everyone is just fucking unlikable except for Goggins. When there's no one to clearly root for I ended up not really caring what happened to these characters. And good lord I know Tarantula likes making long movies but there was no NEED to explain every detail in how the gang infiltrated Minnie's Haberdashery. The movie is three hours long and it spends so much time explaining shit we already know.
My least favorite movie by QT, there's some chuckles to be had but it was really a story that could have been told in an hour.

I enjoyed it, it was a fun little movie, but the more I think back on it I'm thinking "ehhhh that was kinda dumb" at some parts. The dialogue was good, half the characters were interesting, the first half of the movie made me want to know what happened.
The second half starting at the flashback was pretty dumb. The shooty parts were fun to watch but weren't interesting from a story perspective and all the Jody Gang shit just fell flat. All the gang members were suddenly generic fucks, Roth and Madsen had no character whatsoever. Big black dingus.

Basterds is terrible. The first ten minutes is a masterful display of tension and doalogue then it drops off in to typical tarantino style of excessive talking that adds nothing to either the plot nor the characters. It's really frustrating to watch because all of his movies have these little bits of genius tucked in them but they're surrounded by poor choices. He needs someone supervising him that isn't afraid to tell him to tone it down.

That's the scene I'm talking about. It's truly one of qt's best. It's an excellent scene. Unfortunately it's about the only good scene in the movie. Other memorable scenes are spoiled with this modern, out of place dialogue. Comparing king kong's plight to black america? Explaining what a mexican standoff is? It was painful, it was cheesy, it was goofy and didn't feel believable. The whole universe he constructed with that film just felt hallow and "off"

it's sam jackson's best performance ever and goggins was awesome. the whole last 45 minutes was superb but I agree that the start was far too slow. it's the best edited movie of his since pulp fiction.
