Bullshit, Barristan is important as fuck to Dany.
He's the acceptable face of leading her army into Westeros, the most beloved and accomplished knight of all time.
Tyrion is a kinslaying monster, Jorah is an exiled slaver, Daario is a foreign mercenary. The people of Westeros won't be happy with those at the head of her army.
Barristan is her way in, and the guy who can help make alliances and bring her prestige. He's also the commander of her army, and understands better than anybody the correct way to siege certain castles.
The way he died was fucking bullshit, and it made absolutely no sense why he'd walk a hostile city without his fucking plate armour on.
D&D did it because they're lazy as fuck and wanted less characters to write for
