The entire naming in the new movie makes no God damn sense. Why are they calling themselves the First Order? Surely they're the remnants of the Imperial army and navy that have been on the defensive since the battle of Endor. Yet they're acting like they're the dominant group.
They're opposed by "the resistance"... Yet in the same breath they'll mention The Republic which suggests the Republic still rules much of what used to be the Empire. So isn't the Resistance... Just the military of the ruling government fighting the army of the opposite faction in a long civil war?
