In fact that doesn't even make much sense since the age difference between her and Kylo seems small. If Kylo was 18 during the time of the massacre then Rey was most likely 13 or something similar.

I don't think people understand that JJ completely abandonded the logic of the prequels. Watch the original trilogy again- the lightsabers have weight to them, and the fights are slower. The Force isn't something you spend your whole life learning, but something that you learn to control quickly like Luke did. Disney is on a strict "OT FIRST" policy when it comes to things like this.

Actually, George changed the idea of that in the last film. He originally portrayed them as having weight and taking two hands to weild. The props kept breaking so they couldn't be swung around more freely aswell.
