They've made her too much like Luke and she plays the exact same role: the protagonist which knows nearly as little as us and we will discover this new world and story through. I think they really want her to be this "innocent" hero we will all love and want to win. $$$Disney also probably see her as a way to bring in more girls to the franchise.
