>best movie of the year,
Nigga, that's Bone Tomahawk.
Not "Please for the love of god give me an oscar pt.15"
>>63900898
It is not, in and of itself, pretentious, you should probably stop using buzzwords you picked up your first week here if you want to be taken "seriously".
>>63900652
>>63900953
Hey Leo
>>63900569
>lol that terribad CGI
yea lets get an A list actor to actually fight a real bear
it looks fine. the sound is what made that scene.
>>63900360
Of all the liberties to take with the source material, they couldn't even bother to kill the CG bear?
It looks like a cool idea that was filmed wrong, too jumpy and quick, but I'm just judging from previews.
>>63902425
he does, thats just the first part of the fight
>>63902425
the fight goes on for another like 2-3 minutes

I'm an hour into it right now, just googled 'Watch Revenant' to find it. It's pretty good. Liking Tom Hardy's acting; Leo is serviceable, but he's mostly just grunted and spoken in ooga booga tree speak, so I can't really say much yet.
>>63903410
I thought that as well. I can already tell from the trailer that what's his face fucked this movie with his lame cam angles cause he's an edge master. Get a real director for this type of script
That movie sucked haha just finished it
I think it was pretty good aside from the pandering shit that they felt the need to put in to make the audience feel more involved.
In real life, Glass had no son, and his only sense of revenge came from having been left to die in the harsh wilderness. The real life story also didn't apex with a brutal knife fight on a riverbank, in fact Glass decided to abandon his bloodlust because he realized that Bridger was only a boy and Fitzgerald had become a soldier (killing a soldier definitely wasn't a good idea). I think those elements would have been great if executed correctly, it almost feels like they cheated by pulling typical Hollywood plotpoints out of their ass to make the film more engaging.
Like I said though, still a very good movie. It's always nice to see a movie which is clearly a product of both passion and hardship from the filmmakers.
True Grit 2010 > The Revenant
Im sorry if this upsets you but its true you all know it. The Revenant isn't shit but it clearly made a fuck up casting DiCaprio. Hardy carried the film and the second act was complete shit (apart from that Indian who saved Glass) because it focused on Glass
>>63906905
> Hardy carried the film
lmao he cant act nearly as well, the most intense expression he can ever manage is a look of mild bewilderment
>>63907188
I just can't take him seriously in these roles where he does a sothern drawl. When he told Dicaprio that he shouldn't have raised his son like a girly bitch I lost my shit
>>63906790
That knife fight and the bear fight are probably the two most brutal scenes I've seen on screen. The way they just trade blows and Hardy doesn't even let out a whimper let a lone a scream or even an anguished grunt is staggering.
>>63900360
Oh shit Brumas!
>>63900360
>>63906905
>True Grit
shitty lolli gurl drama
I kinda' feel like this film could have done with a gruff voice over on Leo's part. He barely talks, and since it's a telling of a story, if it was incorporated smartly, it would have fleshed him out more than a grunting bruised guy. I mean, I'm sure there was some form of internal monologue in the book, it couldn't have just described scenes.
>>63907413
I mean it's not like the man got his throat slashed by a fucking bear, but sure he should've talked more!
>>63907457
>could have done with a gruff voice over
>gruff voice over
learn to read
i like that the bear fight has the bear cubs watching on in the background
bears are fucking scary man.

I didn't say he should have talked more, I said he could have done with a gruff voice over.
>>63907555
they're just big fat dogs dude
>>63907580
>>63907546
Woops, my mistake.
>>63907611
500 pound dogs that can toss you around like a doll
>>63907651
but still dogs nonetheless
>>63907678
we just have to teach them all "NO" and we're good
>>63907555
That's a great touch, I missed that, but I did spot them looking down at their dead mama after her and Glass tumbled over that ledge, just before the rest of the party shows up. I felt a twang of sadness when they scampered off, knowing they most likely wouldn't make it very long without her.
>>63907555
#3 was a fucking retard, and #2 was kinda' shitty, because the people throwing food at the bear probably just antagonized it more. Did number #2 live? I know I've seen the footage before, but I can't remember the story.
>>63907785
#1 didn't live, the bear punctured his throat and he bled out after the video was turned off
>>63900569
>this fucking treenigger
>>63907555
#btfo sonny
>>63907856
dat sucks.
I'm 1hr50m into the movie and all the movie has taught me is that, as a whole, Indians are assholes.
>>63900312
>will fucking poulter playing jim bridger
for fucks sake
>>63908232
Well they kinda were
>>63908443
I concur.
